Haven't been out yet today, and can't access Gas Buddy, apparently due to heavy site traffic.
There's semi-official speculation price here may go as high as $4 by end of year. Social services are already bracing for an unprecedented number of people unable to heat their homes and all the horrific consequences including deaths by hypothermia and/or freezing.
Since the poor vote overwhelmingly Democratic, remember that each such death is a triumph for the Bush Administration, also a victory for the Republicans and the oligarchy they serve: the real meaning of my signature slogan -- survival as a blow against the oligarchy.
Class struggle means taking such things personally. As the feminists say: the personal is political.
(Weather note: While the Puget Sound area has generally moderate winters thanks to the Japan Current's influence -- the winter monsoon -- this IS the Pacific Northwest, and arctic cold-fronts can drop temperatures well below freezing and sometimes below zero, which typically happens three to five times per year.)
Edit: typos.
