CNN Video: Long Gas Lines In Atlanta; Prices Increased to $4.99...
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 04:09 PM by VolcanoJen
... in some areas. Something about a $10.00 cap. $3.55 at minimum. It's true. There's a run on gas in Atlanta. Video on CNN now.

The reporter says that suppliers have 7-10 days worth of gas in normal situations.

Another reporter reports a fueler tank under police escort on its way to New Orleans.

Everything came out okay in the end. Except for the elderly mother of the African-American EMT who froze to death during the winter.

... the dispensers themselves, in most cases, cannot charge more then 9.999 per unit dispensed.

I copied them verbatim... and the CNN reporters had seen $4.99 in some areas.

Interesting.

21. this is like that movie
"Oil Storm" surreal that they showed the movie 3 months ago and the premise was a large hurricane disrupting oil supply. if things go like they did in the movie we are ALL in big trouble.

... as far north as Atlanta.

I wish I'd never watched that damned movie. It's playing out, and it's just plain awful.

25. Lines in Alabama
starting this afternoon. We heard from a relative who drives a tanker, unless something changes, rationing will begin in a day or so and then there will be none (here) at all.

30. Georgia and Tennessee gas rationing for truckers
Hubby just called and said it's starting. It's expected to spread nationwide in the next week.

The trucking companies could start shutting down trucks as a result of all this in order to save money. Hubby is working his ass off to keep hold of his trailer. As long as he does, he'll keep running, but if he has to drop and hook, he runs a bigger chance of being shut down. This will be one of the times he skirts the DOT regs in order to stay on the road.

Sad to say, folks, it'll get worse before it gets better.

33. I filled-up the tank at 2pm
It was 2.81 9/10 at Citco. No line.

My wife went to store at 5:00pm, there was a line to the pumps into the street and the price was 3.19 9/10th per gallon. That would be a 38 cent raise in price to hit those just getting off work.

Would this be price gouging or is this the free market capitalism in operation. You know, allocating resources to those most worthy in society. Those most worthy can pay, the others? Well they will just have to make do with less, right?

The news (faux) said one the primary pipeline suppliers to the area, was having difficulties with power at the head of the pipeline, thus no new fuel for awhile.

It is gonna get a lot worse before better, I think, if it ever does get better. The crunch we have been expecting here on DU for a couple years, is here I think.

My wife told me to start keeping the electric scooter charged. Maybe I should fix the flat tires on the bikes too.
