Gas in Massachusetts yesterday $2.58/gallon; today it is $3.11. |

Fill your tanks today, prices are going through the roof.
A couple days ago, Cumberland Farms (Gulf) was selling regular gas for $2.58/gallon; today it is $3.11.
So I drove down the road a bit to the Getty station, where it was selling for $2.77; the attendant told me it is going up tomorrow to $3.15.
Just heard on Faux gas in Atlanta is selling for $5.57/gallon. I'm afraid this is going to get worse before it gets better.
I am very concerned about the price of heating oil. How will the poor and elderly stay warm this winter? I just locked in a delivery of 4 cords of firewood. Hope that is enough for the winter.

Think there will be a brief panic as people try to fill up. Supplies will run short in some places. EPA relaxation is not going to help much.

3. $2.99 - $3.05 - $3.11 - $3.15 in ONE WEEK, San Jose, CA. |

That's the price for Chevron Supreme. All of the grades are climbing approximately 5 cents per gallon per day here.

I expect it to go up again, and a lot of places are out of the "cheap" stuff. I'm calling my dad in a minute (in Atlanta) to see what the heck is going on up there! I'm supposed to go to a family reunion thing this weekend, but I think I just can't justify the gas money.

6. Can anyone say KORPORATE PRICE GOUGING? |
|
I'm sure there are market forces in place, but the korporations are ripping us off.
It is past time to nationalize the US oil companies.

7. I'm really concerned about heating oil |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 05:03 PM by MaineDem
I got 100 gallons last week (we burn kerosene) and it had gone from 2.37 to 2.47 in one day. I'm going to call tomorrow to see what it's up to now.
I don't know how people - average middle class people - are going to be able to heat their homes this winter. And the Farmer's Almanac said it will be a snowy cold one.

9. I just got half a tank for $38.00 at a Citgo |
|
My usual no name no brand station was at $3.11 a gallon and the Citgo was $2.83 a gallon. The Citgo station said that they were selling the supply that had right now at the price they paid for it but that it would go up tomorrow when a new delivery was expected. I said "fill it" thinking that half a tank would cost me about $20.00. I just about freaked when I saw that it was $38.00! I should have had a clue because the person that filled up before me left the pump monitor screen with a $66.00 sale balance.
Heating oil for this winter is frightening me more than I can say. I just don't know how I am going to be able to heat my home, fill my tank (so I can get to work) and feed my family all at the same time. I do have a fireplace and a cord of wood, but that won't heat my whole house due to the layout. I am very worried.
