Why the FUCK are they now askign private citizens with boats to help them?

At the press conference they just gave out a phone number and they're asking for people with boats and expertise to call so they can help.

WHERE IS OUR FUCKING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?

1. Rally the armies of compassion because the real army is busy in Iraq.

2. How would they get their boats there?
Drive them? Gas at $399-4.99 per gallon. Right. Sign me up.

6. I'm starting to think they are lying about how much personnel we have.
Because if we had the appropriate NG numbers, would we have to beg private citizens for their boats?

8. I would be there in my boat in a heart beat
whats wrong with asking people with boats to help? In case you havent heard, there's a flood and thousands of people are stuck. Lots of fisherman and duck hunters with rigs could float them out there. Being on the water is lots more effective than being in the air.

The general public is more likely to have the shallow draft rigs that are needed. Where else they gonna get then from?

10. I agree. I have huge problems with the incompetence and negligence
evident in the Federal gub'mint around this catastrophe, but the scale of this is astonishing.

Whatever it takes. Just try to remember that. I think even if the Bush folks had not taken a laissez-faire attitude about FEMA and the levees, etc, the boats would still be a good idea.

11. They should have started doing this as soon as the storm passed
There will be plenty of boats that can be brought close enough to be able to use has ferries to get people out. At least someone is finally coming up with a solution.

17. Yes, the sooner the help the better. People are waiting and dying.
Why did BU(ll)Sh(it) wait so long???? If you were stuck in the heat with no food water in the dark, would you care if it were not a"Support our troops"soldier. We have a rowboat and I know if we were closer it would be out there.

12. Why hasn't our government contaced the cruise lines for help?
The Feds can easily reimburseme them financially for any losses. Between G. Soros, Oprah, Cosby, and a few other millionaires they could charter at least five ships for a few weeks.

14. The draft on a cruise ship is fairly deep
There's many feet of the ship below the surface. You can't get a ship that big down a flooded street.

I think the private-boat idea is very good, so long as they're being issued government fuel to run on.

Democrats are big on compassion, but what happens when someone comes up with a way for people to be compassionate? They get their asses jumped--by Democrats.

I wish I had a boat. I'd put in for a leave of absence from work and head to NOLA--they need it down there.

16. The more we solve our problems, the less we'll need "leaders".
This is a small positive sign in light of a tragedy.
