WHY are people, 36 hours after the hurricane, still on rooftops screaming for help? Why are there almost no NG on the ground in NOLA? Where are the food and water drops for the citizens of a major US city? Why are people congregating on freeway onramps for days in blistering heat without drinking water? The police completely on their own and helpless?

19. Ya know, : all hands on deck" was kinda what i was thinking.

I was just cleaning the kitchen a bit, and had the present situation in mind. I was wondering what a decent president would be doing. And all hands on deck would describe some of the things i had thought a decent president may have done.

Commandeer ever helicopter, plane, float plane, boat raft, truck, tool truck in order to bring food, evacuate, rescue etc. one may have mobilized whatever Ng, Army, Marine etc could be had. He may have also made use of as many civilians in the area who wanted to help. Another might have request police forces, fire departments, and rescue squads from surrounding areas throughout the country.

We could have utilized Army surplus tents any types of shelters, made camps and bases of action, where people could sleep, get a hot meal, get some treatment. We could have people out in boats handing out sandwiches and water, 1st aid kits. Chopper, and copters planes dropping supplies and looking for survivors.

I am sure some is this is happening, but it is obviously not even close to enough. More could be done, and many people are willing to help and sacrifice to help, but to me it appears the ball was dropped.

Thats just a tiny bit of what could have been done. I believe a real "all hands" on deck policy right now would be of great benefit.
