NOLA anecdote
Cousin of a friend lives in New Orleans. Cousin returns to his home and it only has two feet of water in it. Police officer stops him and asks where he's going and why.

Cousin shows ID and says, "I'm a goin' to protect my property."

Cop says, "No, you're not. Nothin' in there worth savin' anymore, so get yourself out of town."

Cousin gets in the Cop's face and says, "That's my stuff and my house and I'm gonna' protect it."

Cop says, "There's no water, no electricity and soon won't be any police. You can go in and get your family pictures and your bible. Nothing else is worth saving."

Cousin comes to his senses and backs down.

Cop says, "Oh, yeah, and you can take your guns too. That's the one thing we don't need more of right now. Now get your stuff and get out."
