16. Political capital, that is.
Here we go again. He says a few words, the necessary agencies have been mobilized for the last few days, he flies over in Air Force One. Let me repeat that. AIR FORCE ONE. Not Marine One, but Air Force One, meaning he was too high up to see individual people and their tragedies.

19. Not just political capital, but greenbacks too...
Bush and his pals are making a killing, off of Iraq and the gouging at the gas pumps.

23. I'll bet you he's right about that.
I'll bet you they are ready to move in right now like a lock of buzzards. The reason Cheney hasn't been seen, is probably because he's been too busy writing himself checks, to come out and say, "Go F**k Yourself"!

4. All the rights-abriging security measures in the world...
...can't stop Mother Nature, sadly. If I was very religious, my prayers would be with those poor people. They may never get their lives back, and for some, that's in a literal sense. And they're right to be angry. We could have done more to prevent this.

It's mind boggling how much death and destruction this steaming pile of crap is responsible for or contributed to with his incompetence, lies and ignorance.

11. I have a strange feeling the Bush administration has jumped the shark
or the couch, or the hurricane. Louisiana and Mississippi are wrecked, and the areas on the coast are devolving into chaos. There aren't enough security personnel, the ones who are available are hungry, thirsty and overworked. New Orleans is in a state of anarchy. The police are scavenging for gas and food, gangs of looters have cleaned out stores with guns. Quite frankly, if I was there, I would want a gun, as well. It is a dangerous place, something like New York City in "Escape From New York".

And all the trapped people, families on roof tops, people on overpasses in the hot sun, college kids in dormitories, people in the hospitals, still are in need of immediate aid and rescue.

This administration's inept political hacks, it's pennypinching ways with American security issues, it's squandering of money on an ill planned war, a bad energy policy, and the infamous tax cuts that keep Americans in minimum wage jobs....well, it's all coming back to haunt them.

12. He was made aware days in advance of impending disaster but he felt
he needed to get on with his life. I suspect thousands are going to die during this crisis and yet Bush* will somehow get a huge bounce from this and the MSM will swear he is the second coming. He had days to prepare and yet days after the fact and FEMA or the Guard neither one are on the scene. Why Why Why Why. What is wrong with this country? Am I a traitor for asking that question also.

I get the feeling this is it.

It's fucking resignation time. This is the straw.

21. After 9/11, people defended Bush for taking so long to respond, saying
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 09:10 PM by electron_blue
it wasn't fair to attack him, and "you wouldn't know for sure how you'd respond if you were President" blah blah blah. To which I always replied. "Maybe not, but NOW WE KNOW HOW HE RESPONDS TO NATIONAL EMERGENCIES. Are you happy with that kind of President?"

We knew 4 years ago how Bush responds. Nobody should be surprised how he responds now. You could even write a script about what he will do next.

Let's see - what happened initially after 9/11? Did he respond "helpfully"? No, he manipulated the American public into giving up significant freedoms and to conceeding to higher prices of gas.

I guarantee you we'll be seeing more of the same from Bush within the month.
