E-mail DNC and Clark re: not being a Democrat
Please consider e-mailing the DNC and protesting the Democratic Party allowing someone who is not a registered Democrat to participate in the debates. Wesley Clark is still registered as Independent.
DNC e-mail:

Here is Wesley Clark's official website's e-mail address.

E-Mail

Demdave posted the story from BusinessWeek.

1. E-mail DNC and encourage them to return Bush to office
And do not tell them that only 4.4% of voters have party affiliation in Arkansas.

7. 4.4 % of Arkansas voters are running for Pres as a Dem?
because that is the only way it would be analogous.

11. No, but most of the most loyal Dems in Arkansas
aren't registered as Democrats at all. This is a pseudo issue. Should he be careful to dot the i's and register in Arkansas? Yes. Does this at all mean that he--likely so many other very loyal, but officially unaffiliated Dems--isn't a "real" Democrat?

Not at all. Pseudo-issue.

2. Last I checked, he was running for the Democratic nomination.
I think that qualifies him to participate in the debates. Personally, I think debating is a good thing. Stifling discourse due to a technicality is not. This is just my opinion. I have yet to make a decision on a candidate. I find the debates useful in forming my opinion.

4. Weak
He's running. Let him debate. Let the candidates defeat him as they can. He will stand or fall on the merits, and this isn't one of them.

29. A white lie by the Clark campaign
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 11:05 PM by w4rma

"A Clark campaign spokesman at first told BusinessWeek that the former general had in fact updated his voter registration to reflect his newfound status as a Democrat. But a call to the Pulaski County Voter Registrar indicated otherwise. When asked to explain the discrepancy, campaign consultant Mark Fabiani says Clark hadn't yet had time to register as a Democrat."

5. Sorry but
"Clark spokeswoman Kym Spell said Thursday that Clark will declare himself a Democrat with a form awaiting his signature at his Little Rock, Ark., headquarters.

"A piece of paper doesn't make you a Democrat," Spell said. "Wesley Clark is a real Democrat, and this is simply a tactic that the other guys are using to distract Americans from the real issues."

Clark only publicly stated his party affiliation in recent weeks and he has praised Republican Presidents Nixon and Reagan. Many of his foes have questioned his ties to the GOP, with Howard Dean saying Wednesday, "Wes Clark ... was a Republican until 25 days ago."

Only 4.4 percent of Arkansas' 1.5 million voters have declared any political party, said Janet Miller, the secretary of state's deputy for elections."

6. WEAK and POOR TASTE
Look the man is running for the nomination.

Like it or not that makes him a Democrat.

By the way, has it ever occured to you that as a true
soldier he did not declare until NOW?

Attack the issues not the candidate.

23. "Dean's attempts to run as environmentalist is nothing but a fraud"
"Dean's attempts to run for president as an environmentalist is nothing but a fraud," Smith told Wild Matters. "He's destroyed the Agency of Natural Resources, he's refused to meet with environmentalists while constantly meeting with the development community, and he's made the permitting process one, big dysfunctional joke."

Though I'm a Deaniac, I am extremely grateful for Clark's latest spot-on critique of BushCo/Iraq (that I read on some other thread somewhere). The best person will emerge and it's possible "parties" can be transcended--The People come together and cast out the demons. Would just like to hear some more from Clark as I am already convinced he would make an excellent VP or Secretary of State.

28. Thanks - we have to thank your guy for changing the rules about
fundraising forever. Loved how Dean was on Leno and talked about how he had gotten all of those little checks from a lot of "regular people." Leno had mentioned that Bush had raked in millions from all of his fundraisers. He did us Dems proud...

See we can play nicely!

As the state of Vermont does not register party affiliation:

There is NO PARTY REGISTRATION in Vermont. Names are added to the checklist alphabetically with addresses but with no party affiliation noted.

30. STUPID people deserve SMART responses
Akransas has a semi-open primary. This means the only way to register is to vote in a Dem primary. A lot of Dem voters don't vote in primaries. Should they all be excluded. Heck, Howard Dean isn't technically 'registered' with the national party. You know why? Because there is no actual way to call up and register as a Dem.

You might want to check yourself, I seem to recall a certain incident last year where people were advocating for a sit-in of Hillary's office. Admin didn't take that shit well at all.

I can't wait until the new rules are put into place. Christ, what a joke.
