HELP DU'ers, if you are any where near the area of Crawford we |
|
need some help here desperately to help in the clean up and getting supplies out. DESPERATELY! We only have a few and there is SO MUCH LEFT TO DO! One man is trying to build a shed by himself, we have trash to haul off, we have lots of stuff to put up once the shed is built. The yard and surrounding area needs to be cleaned up.
Please if you can come help out, I know we are all trying to do stuff in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, but we need some help here to.
I'm getting ready to head for Austin along with Kay's husband in two trucks. Communications got messed up this am when Sonias arrived. If you need me contact the Peace House and they'll give you my cell # or there are many DU'ers here that have it.
Thanks all.
I just would like to express my appreciation to you all and I wish I had the time to let you all know or to take pics and to show you how much we are taking out of here to help.
Geoff of www.radioleft.com was here earlier and did get some pics and said he was going home to put up at his site. If he hasn't yet send him and e-mail, he's in Dallas.
Thanks again and I'm off.

Not sure exactly what you are talking about, but if it is cleaning up the camps, especially the one on the donated land - this is REALLY important. The bad pr of a bunch of dirty hippies leaving trash everywhere could negate the whole picture.
I can't get there but would be willing to send some money to ensure a proper clean up. Anybody know anything? Should I contact the Peace House?

(and what do you drive? ;-) I'd buy you a tank if you can round up another helper or two and get over there for some serious work.

If gas wasn't so expensive, I could probably take a road trip. But, alas, I'm stuck at home thanks to Bushista.

24. Good Morning Dear DU! |
|
Moving a little slow this am. I arrived back at Kay's around midnight last night from our trip to Austin to deliver supplies to the Austin group. I'm getting ready to head out to the site of Camp II to see what condition it is in.
I do know there is a BBQ pit still out there that Kay says needs four people to lift and a large cooler of some sort. After seeing how things came back to the Peace House I'm not feeling too terribly hopeful that the site was left as it was before we all arrived. (I hope to God I'm wrong in my degree of pessimism).
The shed that has been being worked on (since Friday afternoon) at the Peace House is still not finished, but on a high note there are 3 walls up (this shed's dimensions are 10x8, came in the form of a kit purchased at Lowe's on Friday afternoon, get the picture yet?).
In other words folks, there is still much to be done. Kay is wiped out as are the few others still here. If I'm recalling correctly there are several due to be making today or tomorrow there last day here.
I have lots to report, (many nice stories to tell), but my time is limited and I've got to hit the road again quick. I'll call in a report to Mr A in Dallas from Casey II so he can give you all an update for me.
Thanks once again for all the aid and assistance you all have given.
Peace, anarchy1999 S

Crawford Peace House needs volunteers desperately tho. The shed is still unfinished. Is there a carpenter in the house? Thank you for your assistance.
