Limbaugh - is - outta------here!!!
One word:

"sponsors"

They will abandon the show in droves.

Think Red Lobster, et al want a *serious* drug addict pushing their brand?

No sponsors, no "EIB network", no Rush.

Also, what politician will want to be seen within a country mile of him?

He is SO over!

7. Replaced by who?
O'Reily is melting down. Savage is gone. Novak is looking at jail time. Coulter will blow any day now.

12. Sean Nazity - I mean Hannity.
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 02:33 AM by calimary
I suspect he was being groomed during the summer when Rush went under the radar because of his "ear thing."

That's when Hannity suddenly got ABC radio to pick him up and spread him like a rash all over the country, expanding his orbit beyond just FAUX.

on edit -

Makes my stomach turn to think of it, but I do have my suspicions.

6. As Mark Twain once said............
"The reports of my demise have been greatly exagerated". You should know these hypocrites well enough by now. They always rally around those that have fallen from grace. Rush will come back as strong as ever, sure he'll lose some clout, but all of those dittoheads aren't going to abandon him. They NEED him. Without Rush to spark their outrage, they're simply garden variety morons. With Rush, they become the raving, frothing at the mouth morons that we've all come to love. Rush will be back, bet on it.

10. David, he's gone for a few months of rehab, and will be back
Unlike you or me, he will not bankrupt himself with court fees. He will not do jail time like the black kids for whom he has so much contempt. He will plea bargain his way into rehab, and be back to talk about his miraculous recovery before the Democratic primary season wraps.

We have not seen the last of the pigman, sad to say, but at least there will be a few months of reprieve.

13. don't count your chickens
Rush has followers who would jump off a building if he told them to. They will defend him to the end. I was convinced that Clinton's election in 1992 would be the end of him, and I could not ever have been more wrong.

18. Well, we have to face it...
... the gasbag is the patron saint of the far- and wacko-right. They will do everything to excuse his behavior (or, better yet, blame it on Clinton). If the Florida courts let him do rehab, such as Jebby's kid, he'll be out of rehab in a month and back on the air, and thumbing his nose at the left for thinking he might not be invincible.

However, if he's sent to jail under minimum sentencing guidelines (remember, quantity in possession is figured into presumption of resale), the attention span of the right is short enough that they will forget him after a couple of years. If he's sent to prison, his producers will be looking for his replacement, promptly. There are probably more than enough Rush wannabes in this country that they'll be able to find one.

The real problem is that radio today likes his message (it suits their motives for profit) and wants to program it, and bundle a lot of right-wing idiots around his show. Most of the marketing studies done on this subject have shown that center-left commentators failed because they were sandwiched in between the wingnuts--sort of like a 24-hour porn network interrupting for one hour of Dear Abby.

The real answer to Rush is an entirely different kind of radio network.

Cheers.
