Are you a Neo-Conservative? Find out for yourself. |

Find out your foreign policy school. Are you a isolationalist, liberal, realist, or neo-conservative? http://www.csmonitor.com/specials/neocon/quiz/neoconQuiz.htmlI was a liberal.

Regime-changing and nationalizing the oil companies and putting the defense companies to work doing useful things instead of making weapons.
I guess that makes me a terrorist, but the CS Monitor is just too polite to say so.

YAY. I admit, though, that a lot of those questions had two answers that I teetered between. There was always one question that was in outer space, and another that was unquestionably neocon. The remaining two were tough. I suspect I was somewhere between liberal and realist. I'm sure as hell no neocon, and I think isolationism is impractical.

As somebody who has taken International Relations courses at the post-grad level I really find some of the tenets of neo-conservative foreign policy quite utopian...

This government has a history of too much lying. It is not in anyway prudent to give the government any leeway whatsoever when it comes to giving them permission to have any kind of assets overseas. There is way too much of a history of abuse and constant underminding of other nations.

9. Hey gang, I'm a liberal! |

I took some of these types of polls before, and many said I was a libertarian.
Not that I have any problem with that, since I do beleive in some of their principles (government should stop micromanaging people's lives). I expected to be an isolationist.

Which is reassuring, I guess, if you put any stock in what an online poll has to say. My attitude towards gun control, however, would throw my liberal status way off.

It said realist. But like many others, I found two of the four answers compelling and had a hard time choosing between them. These would be the realist and liberal ones. The other two just seemed unreasonable.

I kinda like question #5 and the first response:
How should the US deal with the North Korea nuclear threat?
Seattle or Pyongyang? At some point soon, President Bush must decide which city he values more. The N. Korea nuclear threat is for real, and even tough negotiations with the US, China, Japan, and South Korea won't deter Kim Jong Il. The unpleasant, but only, option the US has is to prepare to launch a preemptive strike against select N. Korean targets.

Isolationist
The term isolationist is most often used negatively; few people who share its beliefs use it to describe their own foreign policy perspective. They believe in "America first." For them, national sovereignty trumps international relations. Many unions, libertarians, and anti-globalization protesters share isolationist tenets.
Isolationists…
Are wary of US involvement in the United Nations Oppose international law, alliances, and agreements Believe the US should not act as a global cop Support trade practices that protect American workers Oppose liberal immigration Oppose American imperialism Desire to preserve what they see as America's national identity and character
