Anyone see Rob Lowe on Daily show last night
He said he was a strong supporter of Ah-nold and made a joke about his womanizing. I used to like Rob but I lost a lot of respect for him last night. Jon was good on how he handled him so as not to insult him but you could tell they were worlds apart. He also said he was considering politics for himself in the future. I guess all the GOP has is Hollywood celebrities.

2. If you look at Rob Lowe's
sordid past with woman, is it any surprise Arnold would find an ally in him. I recall that he is close with Martin Sheen and grew up with his kids. It's unfortunate that it didn't rub off more.

Martin Sheen — there's someone who should run for office. He's already highly involved in progressive politics. He doesn't just play act on TV.

3. I kept thinking that Lowe must identify with someone who's had
his sexual conduct exposed to the world. The only thing is, there was nothing illegal about Rob's video, it was just tremendously embarrassing. maybe the thing is, Lowe would like to run for office, but feels he can't because this incident would come back to haunt him.

4. Weren't the girls in that video minors?
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 10:13 AM by CatWoman
I think it happened here in Atlanta.

on edit: Shamed comic Paul Reuben's alleged porn stash is reported to include the infamous sex tape which landed actor Rob Lowe in trouble with the law -- sources said that some of what was taken away included century-old erotica and a copy of Lowe's 1998 sex video, in which Lowe is seen in a tryst with two females, one of whom was underage at the time. 8. Somehow I knew it would be the french.
This sounds like that movie with Tom Cruise where the crime can be stopped before it happens.

Do the french have that technology? Did they stop Lowe from becoming a RW politician.

11. I hate to do the "I know someone who. . . "
but I have a friend who knows the older woman involved. She still lives in Atlanta.

But who knows. You know how this stuff goes.

7. The hairdresser underground
was circulating a copy of the video. Rob's nickname was needle dick in certain circles. I wish he would enter politics strictly for the entertainment value.

9. Dana Carvey is another Arnie supporter
He was at one of Arnie's appearances earlier in the week and intro'd him by doing his "Hans & Franz" schtick. He's off my list.

Robe Lowe sucks anyway. Never liked him and his support of ths womanizing creton confirms it.

10. Why are the most stupid actors the ones who want to be politcos
Miller, Kelsey Grammar, Bruce Willis, Reagan, Arnold, Lowe -- they're all the same: shallow, anti-intellectual, fixed on one rigidly ideological political view, megalomaniacs with over-blown egos and disreputable pasts.

13. It's weird, 'cause Rob Lowe is a Democrat -
remember the whole tape thing happened when he was in town for the Democratic National Convention in 1988. The guy's quite a liberal, so it's weird that he's working for Schwarzenegger.

15. I don't think any of them are really political
Except Reagan perhaps. It seems to be a personality drive. Sort of like many actors want to be singers because they crave that personal, direct audience attention. The particular political party is somewhat inconsequential. It's more the notoriety and affirmation and validation they get from being in the respected aura of those in power. When the Dems were on top, during the Kennedy years, all the Sinatras wanted to bask in Kennedy's power, when Reagan was in the WH they just followed the parade.

14. Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it!!!...............
I hate having to play devil's advocate and (by default) defend Lowe, but.....(I preface this by saying I personally think Arnold is a pig)

However, I do believe Lowe is a staunch Democrat. I think in his own mind he supports Arnold because 1) he knows Arnold, Maria and family for years and has seen a more favorable side of him that Lowe is convinced is the "real" deal; 2) he believes Arnold to be a moderate because he is avowedly pro-choice and pro-affirmative action; 3. yeah, I agree he probably belives that if he (Lowe) can change from his "womanizing" ways, then so, too can Arnold.

I don't agree with Lowe, but I think that we need to acknowledge that some people are going to weigh these issues differently than we and that painting things in black and white doesn't work any better for us than it does the Bushistas. If we are to convince the majority of Californians to vote down the recall (and Arnold), we have to understand and appeal to the entirety of belief systems out there....Same with some misinformed Americans who still support Bush. Not all are a lost cause... just misinformed.

Ok, flame away....
