50. I just thought of something regarding is Clark a Dem question.
The speculation could be a great way to get publicity AND, more importantly, be a sublte way for independents and repukes to realize they actually are better represented by the Dems.

Think about it, if Clark is able to get across that tax cuts for the wealthy and ties it to an actual yearly salary ($200,000 I think at the debate) then some dunderhead that votes against his own self-interest by voting repuke just might figure it out and vote Dem.

In summary while Wes "defends" himself against the not-a-Dem charge, he could be very effective in doing what we have wanted all along, someone to point out what being a DEM means!

just my theory

a real Democrat. Responding to the lends credence to them. Instead, he should just go out and act like a Democrat.

7. Dean supporter on Clark
Frankly, I don't really care about the whole Republican thing. I say, "Whatever". When people say that, I think to myself, "Is that all you've got?" They should come up with something better than that. He's alright with me and I'd support him if he won the nomination.

Otherwise, he's just a ventriloquist's dummy spouting Democratic slogans.

73. No, I've said that if Clark dropped out of the President race and
ran for a lower political office -- starting with dog catcher would be a start but I'd settle for governor, senator, or US Rep -- as a Democratic candidate and built a record to evaluate, then I'd be fair to him, but if he is just going to mouth Democratic slogans and run for President, I will not support him.

My support for Clark is conditional -- he needs to hold a lower political office as a Democrat first, manage the affairs of that office well, and win re-election to that office at least once to prove his political campaign competency.

96. So far the best thing that Clark Boosters can say about Clark

Is that he says the right things... that doesn't make him a democrat, that makes him a good script reader.

If Dick CHeney came out and gave the exact same answers, would you also be willing to vote for him?

Yet you are willing to vote for Clark, who is a director of the NED with the head of the Carlyle group and who was working as a lobbyist for henry kissinger up until the day he declared his intention to seek the dem nomination.

I simply do not understand how some people can ignore this HUGE red flags about Clark, simply because he says the right buzzwords and sound bytes.

90. This is important to me, but in all honesty
it is not just this administration. After WWII, the United States was the most respected country in the history of the world. It wasn't even close. We were the shinning beacon of everything that was good in the world.

We have spent the last 50+ years pissing that away. Bush has just accelerated the process.

98. I agree, if I were to vote based on just what he has said this week...

Clark would be a great democrat... going by his recent words alone.

However look at what he said before that, and look at what he did and who he worked for... suddenly his words and actions in the past few years make his words in the past few weeks seem like total bullshit.

He's telling us exactly what we want to hear... and too many people are buying it without askign any serious questions about Clark being a lobbyist for Kissinger, a director of the NED with the head of the carlyle group, or his comments about the great leadership of Bush and Reagan.

Ask him not to go negative on Clark! I've already done the same thing, with Clark about Dean!

He is a GREAT candidate and may stage a comeback... even after the first 2 primary votes.

He is a truly sincere candidate who does little bashing of his opponents.

83. Edwards is young - he has a lot of time left
he's getting a lot of experience in this campaign and will kick ass in the future. He is our candidate of the future IMO. He could also end up being the VP candidate - which would line him up nicely...

54. Did you see the glint in his eye when he was getting ready to
say something like (referring to Bush*): it is sad for anybody to lose his job, but it is needed for a man to lose his job so millions of others can get jobs.

I loved that glint!

79. The General ain't taking no prisoners!
The General is not only listing the failures of the current administration, but he is also proposing his vision for the future. I believe that he portrays the relunctant candidate that is running because he feels he must.....and he is very convicing about it. There is a certain humility that shines through that compliments the fact that he is not a life time politician.

It's about us. And he will listen to us and care about what we (all Americans) want and what we think. He is our champion. And he is going to open up a serious can of whoop-ass on the bushistas after he wins the White House.

94. General Clark has a real aura surrounding him..
I've been fortunate to be in his presence twice and it is there. I hope that it is an aura of protection. Because he is ready to take on the bushistas and neocons and he will need a tremendous amount of courage, faith and all the good and positive vibes we can send his way.

102. He had to IMHO.
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 02:09 PM by gully
Clark needed to speak to the concerns WE had/have about him. He still does. He needs to talk every chance he gets about

1. His conversion to the Democratic Party.

2. His position that WAR is a last resort

3. His plans/solutions to the issues that face our country.

4. Why he's qualified to lead our nation inspite of his lack of 'so called' formal experience in politics.

As I said, I still prefer my beloved Governor because of his outstanding record in Vermont, his being there for me when so few were in all this madness, his concrete solid positions/solutions to the issues that face our nation and his amazing leadership skills.

But, it's gonna come down to 1 of 3 guys against Shrub (most likely?)

Dean
Clark
Kerry

I want to feel good about them ALL, and I still anxiously await Clark's position/plans for the country (in writing) somewhere (approved by the Clark campaign, KWIM?) C'mon issues page!!!

Clark moved up a notch for me today though, that's for sure. Am still a bit 'gun shy' though, and hope to be convinced that Clark would be as good a choice President of the US of A as Dean or Kerry.

95. Clark's speech
was great ...

i still know very little about him ... i think no one should endorse him before he puts some details on the table ... nor should anyone dismiss him ... he has real potential to go all the way ...

all the speeches today were eloquent ... candidates who mumbled and stumbled several months ago have grown into excellent orators ...

103. You are so right about that
The candidates are terrific. We can fight toe-to-toe with the Republicans now. And when they accuse us of having no valid alternatives we have some well thought out, commonsensical proposals to give them.

Of all the candidates, they had the most trouble calming the crowd after him. They pounded the gavel...waited...pounded...started speaking...pounded again...! lol. The crowd couldn't calm down after Clark finished :)
