GreenLantern predicts the next Chief Justice will be
Clarence Thomas. To counteract the NOLA prejudice arguments.

5. I don't think Fat Tony could deal with
being passed over in favor of his dimwitted step-brother Clarence.

7. I'd actually rather have him than Scalia. I think. Hell, I don't know.
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 08:21 PM by belle
Scalia: smart and evil. And corrupt, on top of evil.

Thomas: possibly somewhat less evil, definitely way less smart. And way corrupt. And a total lightweight.

Decisions, decisions.

It ought to be Souter, if anyone who's already in there and still healthy. fat chance.

i expect anyone he brings in from the outside will manage to be more evil than Scalia and more corrupt than either of them, and may or may not be a total damn lightweight.

9. Thomas is a pup
He's 57. We'll be looking at a Rehnquist-length reign if that fathead gets appointed.

Scalia is 69. He smokes. Might be better to endure concentrated evil for a shorter while for a more likely shot at replacing him. No Democrat has appointed a Chief Justice since Truman.

10. I don't think more evil than Scalia is possible
although Chief Justice Ashcroft could give him a run for his money.

8. I was thinking the same thing this afternoon.
Like that's really going to help his image. At least the photo ops wouldn't have to be staged.

12. Another reason I think it will be Scalia
is that Scalia is such an icon among the far right that elevating him to chief thows a bone to (and distracts a little) the Dobson crowd, so he can then put his pal Albert on the court like he has wanted to do since he got there.

13. I do believe there is a Nostradamus quatrain
that issues some grim forecast -- and reads very much as if it were talking about someone just like Clarence (you always hurt the one you love) Thomas.

Off to check the cobwebbed stacks at the Pigwarts School of Infallible Pronouncements...

a great patsy. They can surround him with the neocons and let her rip. Supreme court needs to be diminished too. Not fair they get left out. And I'm sure Bush will do well with the African American vote next time around.

NOT!
