Trott blames CIA for bad WMD evidence
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 03:57 PM by bluefire2000
I saw Trott (Trent Lott that is) and Bayh (they're on the committee hearing Kay's report)on O'Reilly talking about Kay's report. Lott basically pointed the finger at CIA about the flimsey WMD evidence prior to the war. Said that Tenet told him 'yes, there are WMD in Iraq', then said that they will have to review that evidence and see if Tenet drew the reasonable conclusion. 2 thoughts:

1) RNC seems intent on blaming fraudelent WMD claims on CIA, which as we can see is not exactly filling CIA with warm fuzzies.

2) Both Lott and Bayh seemed pretty resigned to the fact that they aren't going to find anything, and are already talking about understanding why the intelligence was flawed to begin with.

Tenet already took the fall for Bush once on the State of Union speech--anyone think he'll do it again?

2. bush v. CIA
the great thing about battling a beauracracy is that the CIA knows it will still be there after BUSH is gone. If there is more talk from the repuke side they may decide to help him out a little faster than he would wish.

3. I know--RNC screwing themselves
I think the CIA will tear em to pieces. Also, I don't think the American people will go for hearing Bush say "it wasn't *my* fault! Nyanyanya"

4. Trent Lott is a known liar...
...and if he's accusing Tenet of lying, he better start checking the television for new revelations about him.

5. Keep pushing the CIA on this dumbfuck Lott. I rather like the odds

6. Hmm, wasn't there always consideration that the guy on the
grassy knoll was a CIA operative?

If I were this administration, I wouldn't be too eager to pin anything on the CIA, since they're more likely to have better info than the uniformed joes walking in and saying "Anybody here seen any WMDs?"

Poppy41 sure has a good idea of what the CIA is capable of, since he ran the show for two years.

7. Can you double-dip on a fall guy?
I suppose the Reagan Admin did it with Casey, but at least he had the virtue of being dead before they started pinnning all sorts of stuff on him.

Tenet is alive and apparently quite adroit at spinning away the mud in the blame game. If I were Lott, I would not screw around with these people.

"Tangled webs," said the Bard...

10. Lott is as dumb
as a box of rocks! He just asked the CIA to prove the administration knew they were lying. You would think that the Repukes would be treading softly after the Wilson espionage story. NOT smart! Bring on the CIA!

11. Nobody does the blame game better than Republicans.
9/11? CIA's fault (August Presidential briefing notwithstanding).
WMD? CIA's fault (even though Rummy set up the Office of Special Plans to customize the intelligence to fit the WH case.)

I wonder if the average American realizes the damage that the Republicans are doing to this agency? Using this bureaucracy to take the heat for the actions of this misadministration is totally outrageous.

But, I suspect the CIA is going to have the last word.....it's going to be a painful 13 months for the Roilist Party.
