Anybody watching Nagin on Dateline? |
|
Stone Phillips was talking to him. Nagin was talking about the spinning that's going on by the RWer's. He's done now, but it was a good little piece.

2. Sorry I missed it - was it a good piece? |
|
I am so glad he is speaking up about the RW Spin machine. I'm sure they will be spinning him soon as they are spinning the Blanco story now. Nagin is truly a hero and he is fearless about stating the truth.

5. Yes it was. It was much toned down from |
|
his call to the radio station, but I think he was still just as angry. He was talking about blame, and Stone asked if he were also to blame. Nagin said yes, he should have yelled more.
BROUSSARD IS UP NOW.

6. Nagin's a brave guy who has nothing to lose at this point. |
|
I hear he may have been a Republican in the past. Anyone know?

a few posts back for his Republican past, his dereliction of duty, his slickness...etc., basically his apparent failures as a human being.

10. According to what I've read, he's a conservative Democrat. |
|
Apparently more conservative even than Governor Blanco. I don't really subscribe, however, to either a linear political spectrum or to labels that drive an opinion of the actions. I'd far, far rather evaluate the performance itself.
Having a generally low opinion of 'conservative Democrats,' I see no persuasive reason to fault Nagin. I think he did far better than the "senior" officials with far greater resouces at their disposal and far more comprehensive jurisdictions. The notion that he has some responsibility for arranging destination resources for evacuees (where he has no authority) or obtaining resources from outside his jurisdicion (where he has no authority) is plain nonsense.
