he's on the air. he doesn't sound like he's going through withdrawal. what gives? does he just get to keep using until he takes time off to go into rehab?

1. Good question. Is he subject to a employer drug test? |
|
I would love to see the reasoning behind why Rush isn't subjected to the same drug policies he and his supporters champion.

5. I doubt he's subjected to a drug policy test. That's reserved for lower |
|
class employees whose drinking on the job could actually cause serious injury or death if not in control of his faculties.Examples include truck drivers, construction workers, utility workers, and the like. The worst Rush can do is make you need a bath.

11. not to mention reserved for blockbuster video clerks |

my goodness, we can't have our video store guys stoned. think of serious injury or death that would result if DUCK SOUP were filed as a DRAMA instead of a COMEDY.
DEATH, I'm telling you.

7. Rush signed new contract a few years ago... |
|
According to Franken's previous book "Oh the Things I Know" -- when Rush signed his 10-year $350 Million contract 2 or 3 years ago, he knew that he was going deaf, but conveniently failed to disclose that to his employer. (That's fraud by the way.)
So, since that slipped through, he probably didn't have to take a physical which means he probably avoided a drug screening, too. Or maybe he took the physical after one of his two failed detox trips.
I WAS wondering how he lost all that weight... have you ever seen a fat junkie?

10. Those pills CAUSE deafness. Irreversible. |
|
If he is deaf now, in both ears, he may have no other reason to stop.

With an 8 year $250 million contract, he should be. Any body think Rush is worth this kind of money?
This is what happens when you have too much money. He's not the first and most certainly won't be the last.

its looks like it to me. after all these years, he's probably very functional. i wonder if weight loss is part of the side effects of this drug? My sister took it a while. I'll have to ask her.

for Oxycontin and other opiates (he's a practicing plastic surgeon) and he was rail thin. Apparently people can function while on these types of drugs. I didn't witness his detox, but he told me it was almost as bad as the detox scene in Trainspotting.
Bottom line, Rush is still using.

But isn't it against FCC regulations to be drunk and/or high (under the influence) while on the air?
We'll have to get the head of the FCC right on it.
Oh, wait. It's Michael Powell.
Never mind.
Ashcroft would go after Rove before Powell would pull Rush.

12. this is not how i planned to make my first post, but |
|
my wife was addicted to opiates for 5+ years following her father's suicide. she has been clean for 2 years. she functioned perfectly at a high stress job during this time. when she came home however... on her way home she would down 8-10 tabs to "prepare" for the evening. she reached a point where she was taking 25+ tabs a day.
so, yes, a person can function perfectly, they only have to plot their daily intake. she was incredibly "talented" at hiding it and it is a period i don't like to revisit, but seemed pertinent to share.
btw, i have zero sympathy for rush, hypocrite that he is. his addiction does not change the fact that he is a hateful person. he has little use for anyone other than himself. he has always sounded to me as an incredibly depressed, miserable person.
shout out to my wife, who is, by comparison, an incredibly strong, beautiful soul.

9. Hopefully, he's now under a doctor's care.... |
|
for the sake of the people around him. He needs to check himself in somewhere immediately. I predicted this weekend since he's now lawyered-up. He certainly can afford the best of both and has more than enough support. Probably a matter of convincing him. He sounded delusional today with all that phony focus on the ESPN issue. As if that mattered when his life is at immediate risk.

You don't just kick Oxycontin cold turkey, according to physicians. Powerful, more addictive than heroin.
He's just modulated is all. If you keep aright level in your bloodstream, you don't slur or stumble.
But no, he's hooked. He's been in rehab twice before. He's got the monkey.
