Tom DeLay: No support to roll back gas tax
2005-09-06
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - House Republican Leader Tom DeLay said on Tuesday there was no support for rolling back the federal gasoline tax to offset higher prices.
"Absolutely not," he told reporters after a meeting with President George W. Bush on issues related to Hurricane Katrina.
"Now more than ever you're going to need ... that infrastructure, those highway trust funds, to rebuild the bridges that were destroyed, rebuild the railroads that were destroyed. You have to have the infrastructure or you can't have a recovery," DeLay, of Texas, said.
He said that Congress was looking at how to increase energy supply to help bring down record-high prices.
"There's a lot of things that would increase supply which is incredibly important in order to hold down the price and have the price go down," DeLay said.

We wont repeal a tax that effects the majority of people in this country who struggle to get by because we NEED the money from "regular" people to take care of the country... but we WILL repeal the estate tax because the bazillionairs dont like it... I mean... we cant have their kids trying to survive on a few measily million. hell... what kind of life would THAT be?! :sarcasm:
