Poll question: What political category would you place Lincoln Chafee in? |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 08:38 PM by Loyal
This is a vanity post, first of all, but I just wanted to see what you all think. I like Lincoln Chafee a lot, and I obviously think he should switch parties :). He gets more and more liberal every year in the Senate. He was the only Senate Republican to vote no on the Iraq resolution, he was one of only 3 republicans to vote no on the partial birth abortion ban act(along with the 2 ladies from maine), and he voted no on the recent tax cut. We constantly see pollsters stick Americans into one of three categories: They say Americans are either Liberal, Moderate, or Conservative. So which of these categories do you think Chafee is in, or do you think he is in another category? Respond below.

:kick: I think he's a liberal Republican, but if he were a Democrat, he'd probably be considered a moderate.

2. Obviously, there is not much difference between |
|
a moderate republican and a moderate democrat. I voted moderate.

but if he were a Democrat, he'd be one of our more conservative members. I think Rep. Patrick Kennedy should be able to beat Chafee in 2006.

Patrick is a moderate Democrat himself, and Chafee serves as a moderate balance in the Senate, acting as a crucial swing vote and keeping the Republicans in line, as much as possible! And that matters! Besides, Kennedy voted for the war. :puke: And Chafee didn't!

A vote for Kennedy is a vote for Maj. Leader Daschle, Chairman Leahy, Chairman Byrd, and Chairman Kennedy. A vote for Chafee is a vote for Maj. Whip McConnell, Chairman Lott, Chairman Hatch, and Chairman Stevens. When given a choice between Ted Kennedy or Orrin Hatch, I'll ALWAYS pick Kennedy.

10. Who does he support for Majority Leader of the Senate? |
|
Bill Frist. Bill Frist is a radical conservative. Chafee may not be a winger, but so long as he supports keeping the BFEE in power, he is a conservative.

That's the same reason that Connie Morella was kicked out of the House. If she had switched parties and supported Gephardt, there's no way she would've lost in 2002.
