Is there any chance Bustamante could still win? |
|
I really hope so. I read somewhwere that the Bush White House was split over supporting Arnold are being neutral. They are salivating at the prospect of a "Governator" or being able to run against Gray Davis in California. They seem to think that if W runs against Gray in California he can peel away some Dem votes and win. That's why I hope we Bustamante wins. Being a Hispanic he could help the Democratic nominee not just in California but in New Mexico and other swing states with high Hispanic populations.
I hope that he Bustamante wins because we lose both ways if Arnold or Davis survives.

They are drooling all over this like Wolves to a Pig. They know that Ahhnold is stupid enough to listen to Karl Rove and his cronies.

but his being a Latino according to the polls is not making a huge difference. Right now in the Field Poll he beats Arnold among Latinos by only 40-34 percent. Still 20% are undecided.
That is the key to his winning is drawing a huge amount of undecideds to his campaign and many democrats or democratic leaning voters are in this category: women, latinos, african-americans, SF Bay residents, females.
We can only hope Gropegate helps bring these Democrats home and out for Davis and Bustamante.

Is there any way for me to change my name? The reason why I picked TakeBackAmerica was because I believe "It's time to Take Back America." We need to Take America back from multi national billion corparations that think they should run our lives. I not going to let Christian Right nut group "TakeBack America." There I said.

11. Dems should win, turnout is the key... |
|
Barring anything fishy happening it should go Davis/Bustamonte all the way. The biggest threat is really something like a nasty rainstorm or similar occurrence that will blunt voter turnout numbers. These pro-Schwarzenegger polls (it's clear there's a media bias for Arnold) are all based on very high Republican turnouts and low overall voter numbers, both of which favor the GOP but aren't usually the case with popular elections in CA. Since Democrats outnumber Republicans in California by large margins, any serious showing should favor the Democrats.

But I live in Minnesota and saw how Jesse Ventura won simply by being a tough guy celebrity and speaking dumb, average-guy talk. Young men wearing backward baseball caps came out in droves to vote for the first, and probably last, times in their lives. The uninformed and celebrity-worshipers elected him. Oh, and just as in CA, those who are fed up with politicians and want a celebrity running their government (there are lots and lots of people in this category, and they are immune to reason or rational thinking - so the negative tactics with the Termite-Eater are less than useless; I say less, because there will be a backlash. The more you criticize him and point out his faults, the higher his ratings will go) will also vote. Arnie is in, and that is bad news for Dems in 2004 because he will go along with Bush* dirty tricks and ballot rigging.

Especially if some of Arnold's supporters move to McClintock over this sex stuff. I could see Bustamante winning a three way race.
