I want to give kudos to CNN, MSNBC, AAR, and any other media outlet |
|
giving people camera/voicemail time to tell their loved ones they are okay and/or to tell people of the loved ones they are missing. For whatever else the media has been, for better or worse, this service has got to be absolutely invaluable to the victims of Katrina. I know that some people have been reunited, either in person or by phone, through this service, and if I were a hurricane survivor, I would be so unbelieveably greatful for this.
Just wanted to give a shout-out and thumbs up.
 :applause:

1. Me too. Kick . And they are getting their act together. They really |
|
are. MAYBE the MSM will go back to licking boots, maybe NOT. All I know is they're doing a goddamned better job than they have in years, and we should ask them to keep it up.

4. WWL had blogs to connect people & aired pleas for help... |
|
wwl.com and wwltv.com - Local station from NO
They created a blog dedicated to helping people connect with family and rescues. They provided intense, awesome coverage, esp. early coverage of Mayor Nagin and the other wonderful Mayors/Parish Presidents who have been screaming for help.
They deserve a HUGE thank you from so many of us that were glued to their stations, and they did their community a great and memorable service!
My hats off to all the reporters who provided heartbreaking, feet-on-the-ground reporting and to the technicians who kept their transmitters and servers going to provide communication to the local area.

7. Years ago, I thought I lost my daughter |
|
Her dad and I had taken her to the local community fair in the town we lived in. I had gone to get something to eat, and my daughter stayed with her dad. I saw them walking through the crowd, and then, for a second, I lost sight of her. She reappeared, (she had just been out of my eyesight for a second), but I swear, in the space of two seconds, I went from utter panic and despair to overwhelming joy. So whatever can be done for the Katrina victims, to help them find each other, it's gotta be done!

8. Yes. And many were evacuated at different times. Healing must start |
|
as fast as possible for those families that survived. And it cannot really start until they are all together.
For those that lost someone or were severely traumatized, they need to start the horrid journey of grieving, and that is one that results in many family break ups.
Plus all the people who are so worried about loved ones or close friends. They need to be put in touch.
