I can't get over how bad soft NDP voters are at reading polls...
Every time the centrist Liberals are about to annihilate right-wing forces, NDP support gets swept away in the Red Tide.

Shouldn't the NDP do BETTER during a Red Tide because people don't have to worry about voting strategically to keep out a right-wing government?

1. I assume you are talking about the election in Ontario...

and Ontario is, at best, a centrist province. The other thing is that the NDP isn't connecting with the populace. Overall, imo, Canada is a centrist country, doesn't want to lean too far right or left.

Edited to add: I was surprised that the NDP lost seats instead of picking up at least a few more!

2. "Canada is a centrist county"
You know America basically is, too. I really doubt that on most issues Americans have wildly different political views.

I don't know (well, I do know) how the hell the right has taken over the US but has been properly suppressed in Canada, despiet Conrad Black's best efforts.

3. I'm not just talking about this election...
Every time the Liberals are way ahead in the polls, the NDP does poorly. It just doesn't seem logical to me.

4. I think it is because...
the liberals are seen as a compromise, when it looks like the conservatives are gonna win, some liberals move over to the NDP, and when it looks like the liberals are going to win, that doesn't happen.

Just my thoughts on it, good question tho!

5. the NDP lost it
when they decided to choose milk toast leadership
instead of one that would inspire and uphold it ideals.

Reminds me of the DLC. God help the democrats in the US
if they chose the same route of "least offensive", go along
to get along candidates suck in leadership positions.

Rae's long gone here in Ontario...lol...And I know a guy who voted for Harris in '95 and '99 who ended voting Hampton's NDP this year.

And even the radicals in the New Politics Initiative wanted Layton (or Joe Comartin). :-P
