Until a Democrat comes out and says IMPEACHMENT, I'm off the boat. |
|
Sorry, guys. I switched from Independent to Dem so I could vote for Dean last year, but I'm going to switch back. I was optimistic when Dean took over as DNC chair, but we're right back to the same-old mealymouthed concessions that got us here in the first place.
The federal response to Katrina has been one of the worst crimes I've ever seen or heard of. It should be drawing considerably more outrage from people than LYING ABOUT A BLOWJOB.
As long as neocons seek office, you'll still get my votes...just not my affiliation. Not until someone with a "D" next to their name comes out and demands impeachment.

3. So I'm not the only non-Dem here? |
|
Thanks. I feel better now.
I'm an independent and probably always will be. I lean progressive and I am completely against the crap going on now in the Republican Party, but I cannot bring myself to cast my lot with the Dems either--despite agreeing more in general with that philosphy than the "starve the poor" and "do it yourself 'cause we got ours" attitude of most of the GOP. Maybe it's because ultimately I will always agree with voting for people, not parties.

13. Do you want to eat stale crackers or dogshit? |
|
Of course, you pick the stale crackers every time.
It doesn't mean that you find stale crackers to be a mouth-watering delicacy.

19. The lesser of two evils.... |
|
I'm a registered Democrat, but have always been an independent. I wanted to vote in the Democratic primary, so I had to register dem to do that.
I felt I had to vote in he primary, because frankly I was not very happy with the selection of those running, and hoped my vote would weed some of them out. Sort of a lesser of two evils for the Dem's, and then for president as well.
I guess there will always be something about each candidate that you don't like.

Of course, "one" is hardly "some", but it's a start.

I was a registered Green, now I'm registered Dem.
We should be demanding resignations or impeachment. The fact that there are probably not enough votes to impeach is irrelevent. If we feel Bush deserves to be impeached, we should say so.
Demand resignations! Now!

8. Demand impeachment first, then let THEM explain why not. |
|
And after they "explain," have them then tell us why they impeached Clinton.
We don't have to have enough votes up front, we just have to demand accountability and the truth...the votes will follow.

9. Or even until a democrat says.... |
|
"....you know the incompetence we're seeing in NO is the same brand of incompetence we see in Iraq. Iraq is screwed up because of this administration"
"...I have very low expectations for this administration. Look at the record...everything they do concentrates wealth and power into the hands of corporations at the expense of the public.
"...this administration is one of the worst mistakes we've ever made as a nation."
"....I can't believe we used napalm in Iraq. I am introducing a resolution banning such weapons"
"....I know I haven't been as vocal as I should have been. But These guys are ruining my country and I'm not going to go along anymore. This is war"
"....our national treasures -- our common air, water, and land -- have been pillaged by these guys and their corporate bedfellows for four years. You have no idea how much damage we've done."
"....I don't care if there's a gag order, Sibel Edmonds has proof that Americans and our allies were involved in 9/11. I've seen it"
"....conservatism is reponsible for the demolition of American values in all policy areas."
"...it is time for these bozos to resign. Bush doesn't have the ability to lead this country"
"...main stream media cannot be trusted."
Passiveness on the part of dem leaders is contributing to our ruin....you expect neocons to be neocons, but you also expect the opposition party to represent us. They are not.

I don’t think the Dems will dare to utter the words “impeachment.” None of them (at least of the Senators) have the guts to stop being politicians and start doing what is right not only for Americans, but people all over the world. This is not just about the US any more; it’s about gross incompetence costing people their lives nationally and internationally. Bush has caused deaths for what reason? We STILL don’t know (at least officially) because he changes his excuses constantly! Bush and his cronies can finger point with the best of them. It’s NEVER their fault!
Getting back to the original poster, the Dems, in spite of everything else, are better than the Repubs. So as long as you continue to try to vote Dems in to keep Repubs out, I don’t see any harm in changing party affiliations.

11. I don't have an either this or I quit point but |
|
I really don't think voting at all means shit anymore. I think something bigger is going to be required. Still waiting on a leader..to lead. I wish I still thought it meant a damn thing to have a Dem in there..but really unless they act like a Dem, what's the point? It's pointless. It's the long slow slide to something else..this nightmare America where every few Septembers we spend it crying hysterically and feeling doomed.

And I can count on one hand the number of prominent Dems saying anything worth a damn these days. McKinney is one of them.

:freak:
Look, as long as Tom Delay is dictating the House vote schedule, no one can start an impeachment process. No one.
Democrats can talk about it. DUers can yearn for it. But there are 15 congressional districts that need to change hands before it becomes a real possibility.
