What and how will Clark undo the BushCo damage to America? |
|
As far as I can see, no candidate (other than Kucinich) has said specifically what things they would try to reverse or restore after being elected Prez. Would Clark repeal Bush's tax cuts for the rich? Will he dismantle the TIA and Quantanamo Bay? Will he disallow off-shore tax havens? What about Medicaid as well as Medicare prescriptions? I want to read some specifics, not a lot of yahoo cheerleading. I want to see more than lip-service to progressive ideals, I want to see a concrete committment to the common good instead of crony good.

1. If a Dem wins and doesn't go after the BFEE, we might as well |
|
not win. We REALLY do need specifics!

2. Dean has said he will repeal ALL the Bush tax cuts |
|
Even if you disagree with his position, that is as about un-bush as you can get.

I think he is will still capitulate to big business interests. And I don't think he has a very good grasp of international affairs, but I would like to be proved wrong.

Will CLARK "adopt and implement the Kucinich gameplan"? Really? Did he say so? I like Kucinich's gameplan, by the way. I would vote for him if he were nominated, because I know where he's coming from. But I want to know where Clark is coming from, since he seems to be ahead of the other candidates in recent polls. I'm not one to cast my vote on the basis of appearance or mere hearsay.

But if Clark is the real deal, and is serious about undoing the damage to America, he would consider Kucinich's ideas.
Now how you get those ideas through a hostile Congress is another story.

4. Clarks offichal position. |
|
Is he would repeal the tax cuts, and spend the money on a jobs program. Presumably one heavy on retraining.

Bush talked of a humble foreign policy and an implementation of compassionate-conservatism. The left thrives on issues not bland platitudes

Seen the Republican's Choice, Howard Dean's, campaign recently?
You have the power! Take back the country! Take back the party! Repeated endlessly. And yet he has a platform identical to all the rest. Extreme nationalists are extreme nationalists, whatever party, people, or beliefs they call their own.

18. Wes Clark will be proud to have you representing his campaign! |
|
Maybe you can shake the general's hand if he ever stops by your playground. Be sure to tell him about your great strategy to insult a few hundred thousand Dean supporters.
At least I take comfort in knowing that you are unique in your viewpoint. Not really sure how anybody else could see "you have the power" translating into extreme nationalism. Sounds like democracy to me.

11. Simple - he won't. There will be cosmetic changes only. Style, not |
|
much substance. The operating assumption will be that if we just roll back the clock to the Clinton years, everything would be fine again.
He might repeal the Bush tax cuts. But he won't even speak about doing anything that REALLY harms or seriously challenges the rightwing.

16. We certainly need specifics. |
|
We haven't got a voting record to judge by.
On most domestic issues I fear Clark is on a steep learning curve, and that's why we aren't hearing specifics. A lifetime career in the service does not expose one to all the serious domestic issues we face.

to get all of his policies formulated and presented to the public? His campaign is just three weeks old. For God's sake, the primaries do not even start until January. No one HAS to choose their candidate today.

a run more than a year ago. Then after more than three months of being "coy", he announces.
HOW MUCH FRIGGEN TIME DOES HE NEED?
If he wasn't prepared, he shouldn't have entered the race.

20. my ouiji board told me that given 21 days have elapsed |

to give him more time. Frankly, I wasn't aware that a candidate had to have a Secretary of State, Environment, et al before running. Sort of a really interesting double standard here. I am hoping it is only zeal for folk's own candidate that makes this happen.
I hope he takes in as many of the candidates that are running as he can -if he wins- and pillages their brains and contacts to turn this country around. First appointment? Bill Clinton as Secretary of State.
And, if having a degree in politics, economics and philosophy from Oxford doesn't count, then nothing does. Bush has a fake degree from Harvard and Yale and look where he is. What could a real thinker do with our country and would could he do with the aid and experience of our candidate field?
The thought boggles.

I don't suppose that we could give Clark a little time...
Sorry, but all these months while y'all have been writing to him and asking him to run he hasn't given any thought to what policies he believes in that might distinguish him from the other candidates?
When folks were begging him to run, what was there about him that made everyone think he was a winner? Please don't tell me that it was just because he is military!
Granted that he isn't a politician by trade as the rest are and maybe not used to speaking, but by now he should have a few specifics in mind that are more than just a "me too" to what others are saying.
I would hope that he isn't planning to wait until January to let folks know where he stands. He's really got less than two months to do that because no body pays attention during the holidays. So... I'm waiting.
