1. I'm digging out my old Foxfire books from the 70's

As a teen, I got on this survivalist kick thinking the world was going to hell and I'd better know how to fend for myself. Well, little did I know how right I was.

The Foxfire series taught me to make candles, soap, and other useful items for living off the land and on your own.

Time to dig those books out and refresh my memory.

2. Dept of Homeland security was a 'bone' tossed to Tom Ridge

He was 'supposed to be' *²'s running mate and then was dumped, so 9-11 was a perfect way to "reward" him for being loyal..

There's no real reason FOR Homeland security.. The first line of defence is always the locals..Homeland security will be no more effective than was FEMA..

It's all a big reduncancy unit, whose main job is to suck public funds in..and then spit out money to the friends of the admin...

3. Homeland Security is a hub of cronyism. Didn't a crew film their "seminar"

in Hawaii that proved nothing was being discussed more than how businesses can profit from the measures?

If Bush CARED about this country, he would put Gary Hart and Warren Rudman in charge of Homeland Security.

He doesn't care, and that is why he just put in a GOP political operative to protect Bush's ass on any political matter that comes up involving national security.
