Help Seize Bush's Ranch via Eminent Domain
If you are a lawyer, or know of a lawyer that would be interested in in pursuing seizure of Bush's ranch per the recent Supreme Court decision on eminent domain, please send email with 'Eminent Domain' in the subject line. Let's put all that land to good use!

8. No, all that has been changed thanks to the Supremes...
Now if a company comes along, say WalMart, and wants to build on your property, and if your community leaders think they would like a big WalMart store in town, then you have to find a new place to live.

7. I thought eminent domain could only be invoked if you are
building a road through or other public works like a dam or railroad that would benefit the public at large. Although Bush did use eminent domain to build a baseball park. Not hardly a pressing public necessity IMHO.

just a matter of egregious incompetence. Both the war on Iraq, and the FEMA failures, are deliberate creations by the rich of opportunities for war and disaster profiteering. We've been thoroughly looted, and justice requires reparations!

Why don't you email your idea to the Senate committee that is soliciting Kartina reconstruction advice: use Bush's Crawford Ranch as temporary refuge, and a place also to reunite families and communities. And then--when the Katrina evacuees have returned to their restored communities--turn it into a permanent refuge for America's homeless.

Urgent! Senate committee wants Katrina input - deadline TODAY 9/11

The Senate H.E.L.P. Committee (Health, Education, Labor and Pensions) has been requesting input on Katrina reconstruction. The deadline was changed from Friday 9/9 to Monday, 9/12 (but presume 9/11, by the end of today) to allow more input. I don't know if DUers are aware of this. It's a great opportunity to help influence the treatment of survivors and the fate of the Gulf coast.

The email for public input is listed below. These emails are going to start being reviewed by committee staff tomorrow (Mon, 9/12). I heard about this on a CNN radio rebroadcast of the Senate H.E.L.P. Committee roundtable (of disaster experts) on 9/8, but could not get this posted until now.

Email: katrina_comments@help.senate.gov
Senate H.E.L.P. website: http://help.senate.gov /
(The ranking Democrat is Sen. Edward Kennedy.)

My input to the committee is at:
