Freedom Walk marks 9/11 in Washington: Guess where they recruited walkers

'Freedom Walk' marks 9/11 in Washington
Associated Press

WASHINGTON — It was a demonstration unlike legions of others in the capital. The T-shirts were Pentagon-approved, signs were banned and Cabinet secretaries, usually the target of protest, cheered on the throngs.

Thousands walked today in remembrance of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, in tribute to U.S. troops abroad. By their presence, marchers endorsed the worldwide fight against terrorism that began after airliners slammed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field four years ago

<<<<snip>>>>>

In a city more accustomed to protests against government policy, the crowds gathered in praise of soldiers. Walkers included families of Sept. 11 victims, workers for federal agencies and employees of the defense contractor Lockheed Martin.

Of course Lockheed Martin is going to have their employees march in this farce - War means job security since they are one of the biggest defense contracters out there

3. What kind of "reporting" is this!
"BY THEIR PRESENCE, marchers endorsed the worldwide fight against terrorism that began after airliners slammed into the World Trade Center..."

I astonished to know that the AP has mindreading equipment. Gee, might some people have been there to, erh, I don't know, MOURN 9/11?

5. An important note about "workers for federal agencies:"
Mrs. V. works for a federal agency. Lest anyone get the idea that federal employees march in lockstep with the administration:

THEY DON'T.

But since the leaders of federal agencies are political appointees (appointed by the executive branch), they are probably all Republicans right now, of course. The head of Mrs. V.'s agency is. Mrs. V. said her agency recruited heavily for participants for this farce. Everyone on her team, at least, scoffed at the emails.

11. WOW, thanks for that addition....I figured as much
that they probably promoted this heavily through government employees in hopes to get some folks willing to show up.

If I'm correct there are probably around 100k-200k federal employees working in the DC area. The fact that only a few 1000 showed up shows just how irritated this country is with Bush.

And even then they had to get their cronies from Lockheed Martin push for marchers!

16. They were competing with the Redskins
Don't be surprised at the turnout. They were competing with the TRUE uniting force in the DC area - the Redskins. Oh, and the Nationals home game, and the Black Family Reunion on the Mall.

19. So are you saying there were no sports events during the anti-war marches
that included millions around the world before the war? Or are you saying bushbots are so uninterested that a football game can distract them? Just askin?

15. Yep, I'm not surprised.
Mind if I ask which agency? You don't have to answer. Mrs. V.'s at GSA.

7. Wow, Hitler would be proud...
The way they write this:

"T-shirts were Pentagon-approved"...
"Cabinet secretaries... cheered on the throngs."...
"Thousands walked today in remembrance of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, in tribute to U.S. troops abroad. By their presence, marchers endorsed the worldwide fight..."

It sounds like a Nazi propoganda event.

Very nice. And very accurate. Only young, blonde, germanic types need apply...

The marchers endorsed murder. Good on ya', old boys. Murderous genocidal freaks.
