My daughter is getting out of the army
A bit of a long story, I don't understand all of it, but the short of it is this: She served a year in Afghanistan. When she reenlisted, it was to be part of a new "support unit" for the smaller striker brigades the army is forming. Non-deployable for at least 3 years, was the deal. Well, they're now saying Oops, that's not going to work out. Her entire unit has been screwed over, but especially the ones who volunteered to stay in the army. They broke her reenlistment contract. She could be deployed to Iraq--and it would be Iraq, in 6 months if she stays. (My RWnut Dad is now telling me to write * to protest, he's pissed- day late dollar short Dad.)
I WANT her out, I always have, since we've been in this illegal bullshit war, but I honestly do "support our troops", and honor her for her choices and her service to her country. I'm afraid they'll blow some more smoke up her ass and talk her out of it. But she's also pissed, and isn't going to put up with any more army double speak.
When my grandson was staying with me, while she was in Afghanistan (she's a single parent, and they want to redeploy less that a year since she's been back? There's your goddam * family values) He (clears throat) somehow pickup saying "bush sucks" I felt a little guilty (not much) and tried to tell him that was only Nana's opinion, and other people have different opinions. Well guess what? He's still on the army base and he's still saying it. His Mom tells him that "that's not very nice, that's Mommy's boss" My 6 year old GENIUS grandson (at least smarter that what is it now-- 42% of the population of the United States?) simply replies, "But Mommy, bush DOES suck. Out of the mouth of babes....

2. My dad has a navy story.
To make it short, it ends "Is that what they told you? Really? Hey Chief, come hear this." Chief: "Really? They told you that? I'll be goddamned. Huh."
And my dad becomes the last man demobilized after WWII.

3. That about sums it up
I KNEW it was too good. I'm glad she's getting out. Estatic, actually.
