Nursing home, CYA and Disaster Medicine
St Bernard Parrish, home of a nursing home where they found 35 bodies, owners have been charged with homicide, 35 counts

Now listening to the story last night on Paula Zahn, first off there are two sides of the story, second this is classic for disasters, you need to focus the anger for this fuck up on somebody... and IMHO, this is more rolling shit down from the Feds... get your waders it is gonna get really deep soon.

Anyhow I listened to both the AG and the Lawyer, (both are lawyers) as well as the Coroner for the parish, and I was struck by the sense that they managed to evac 51 of their patients, per one nurse, and lost 35, and I was struck by the sense of oh my god, they had to triage here to see who they got out.

It also stuck me as a game of CYA and trial in the court of public opinion. Follow this, blaming Nagin is not working, blaming Blanco, well now the press has covered the actual time line so bushie boy has taken responsibly, and boy that imitation of JFK after the Bay of Pigs was very poor.

Now by playing this game of CYA, and the owners are white so we cannot even claim racism here, just classism, they are hoping to focus the anger on them, but opening a pandora's box. You see the standards of care are different in a disaster\ war situation.. when you have few resources and have to play god. They are opening a pandora's box, since the DMAT team actually placed non salvageable patients at the morgue and let them die there in the airport, standard of care in a disaster situation, but by this filing, murder under LO law... see the problem here?
