Dean has $500 and my vote.... |
|
if he wins the nomination.
I have thought long and hard about this. Bush is a nightmare and no matter whether my guy wins the nomination or not, I am 100% behind whoever goes against Bush.
I love my country and this is the most important election of my lifetime.
It is a referendum on Bush's horrific policies as well as the power grab by the Fundamentalists, Corporatists, and the War Mongerers.
Reading DU is a battleground and I am sick of the in-fighting and people saying if their guy doesn't win, they may not vote for the nominee.
I owe my epiphany to Clar and Padraid, two excellent Dean supporters. They have been real Democrats.
I will continue to fight tooth and nail against some of the BS here, but when it comes time to put it on the line, the man positioned to unseat Bush has my money and my support.
It is too important of an election to waste on protest votes, division, and in-fighting.
I am not here to quash debate, frankly I am all for it. It's just that when the debating is done, we have to put all of our energy behind the person that will beat Bush.

Except for the $500, being the unemployed student that I am! I will donate what I can and work my hardest to get Dean in the White House if he is selected as the nominee.

Dean has my money and vote and probably time, too, if he gets the Nod. Likewise for every other candidate.

I don't have $500 at the moment. I haven't even donated cash to Clark yet - just time. I'm planning to ask family members to donate to him in lieu of Christmas presents for me and hope to scrape up a little money on my own, too. The nomination will come just about in time for us to give each other donations to the general election of whichever Dem it is for our anniversary.

and let me say I will also donate to Wes Clark (though to be honest I don't know if I can do $500--haven't even donated that much to Dean yet!!) and vote for him or whoever is our party nominee in 2004.

7. Good for you! Although I've given to Dean and Kucinich....my hearts with |
|
both and CMB and Sharpton, too! I'm sick of the "BULLSHIT." AND, sick of the fighting on DU...Sick of all of it, frankly. UGH!
In the end, it will probably be someone else who wins. But, I won't give the "designeed" any money. I will go to the polls and vote Dem.....but I won't give any more money to those who didn't come out of the box "swinging against Bush."
And, after, Dean, Kucinich, Sharpton, Moseley-Braun....who is there? Yeah....I know. Folks just love Wes Clark.
Sorry. A person who just declairs as a Dem....isn't someone I give my $$$'s to.
But the others..they deserve it. Just for "Speaking their Mind and listening to the PAIN OUT HERE!"
Peace!

11. Is a Clark/Dean or Dean/Clark ticket out of the question? |

with the DLC backing Clark? If not I think they'd be unstoppable.
I don't know if it's likely though?

I agree that either a Clark/Dean or Dean/Clark ticket would be absolutely unbeatable. It would be good for America.

and Clark accepted I would be very happy.
16 years of a Democrat in the Oval office sounds pretty cool to me.

|
I'd say around $300 and I don't know who I'll vote for in the primaries. It's either Dean or Clark because I like them the same. Clark hasn't gotten any of my money yet because he hasn't been in the race for as long.

17. Excellent post FD! I am a Dean supporter because I believe |
|
in this man. I think he has turned "politics as usual" upside down and that takes chutzpah...to stand on your own, express how you feel even if most of the people don't agree.
I hope he gets the nomination. I went to a recent houseparty hosted by a physician and it was great. So many die-hard supporters.
But hey, Wes Clark ain't too bad....ABB (anone but bush)

$500 stretches it for us, and I am very much backing Dean, but I will contribute and work passionately for Clark, Kerry or whoever is our nominee.
I've done three fundraisers for Dean so far, and his backers are firmly in support of the Doctor, but the biggest ovation I've gotten all three times is when I've mentioned the need to back WHOEVER the nominee is to take on *.

22. There comes a time to put your money where your mouth is |
|
The time is now. My money will be set aside to donate to the dem candidate--whoever it is. America has been bought by the elite but the citizens of the country can buy it back and in turn get a candidate who works for us and not special interests.
I heard on Washington Journal today how Dean's fundraising via the internet is making candidates rethink political contribution channels. That's a good thing.

as I was making dinner, I got to thinking about Joe Lieberman. Oh my...what if he received the nomination? And then I imagined myself entering the voting booth in November 2004. Who was I kidding...I would check that Democratic box no matter what name was next to it.
This ain't no disco...I ain't got time for that now...They're tapping phone lines...
This new American Patriotism is not just about guarding our borders. It's about guarding what makes us distinctive as Americans - our personal liberties, our right to debate and dissent. It recognizes that we Americans owe our strength to certain values and principles.
We have done well in the world because of who we are: We are not a country that manipulates facts, ignores debate, and stifles dissent. We are not a country that retaliates against people who criticize the government. We are not a country that disdains our friends and allies. We are not a country that sheds blood before every other option has been exhausted. Every one of these principles was violated by this Administration in the war in Iraq - with costs to our identity and security that are catastrophic and rising.

I. for one, echo FamilyDoctor's comments. If Dean beats Clark, I'll send him as much as I can (I'll go as high as I can-probably less than %500 but substantial).
We must take back our country NOW. 2008 is way too late. We need to come back next year abnd BEGIN the process of righting the wrongs those assholes have committed in the last three years.

I am a Dean Supporter, but if General Clark, or any one else wind the nod, they will get my support, and whatever $ I can spare.
If Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean becomes reality, does that mean the donation amount is $1000.00?
:)

I most definitely have my preferences, both positive and negative at this point, but once the Dems have decided on a nominee, I'm in. Time, money and vote. It's that important.

I am not among them. I am a Democrat first and a Dean supporter second. We must take this country away from the gang of thugs who siezed it in the bloodless coup of 2000.

And I've pretty much decided better him than Bush. I still don't consider him a "fiscal conservative" but I think his economic policies will be similar to Clinton's. I really liked him on Jay Leno with his "unorthodox" fundraising methods :p.
