As the death toll rises... |
|
As the death toll rises in New Orleans and Mississippi, my anger over the response has turned into a deep sadness for those who lost their lives in this tragedy and the families who mourn that loss. I cried last night as I thought about what it would be like to wonder if your loved one was one of the bloated rotting bodies being eaten by animals.
These were people who loved and were loved and I know that some may want to diminish the fact that they are forever lost, but I would like to take a minute to say how sorry I am that they are gone.
May their souls rest in peace and may their families be comforted in whatever way possible.

I spent ten days being one of the people who had to wonder if their loved one was one of the dead, as you have described. I have been through a lot in my life, including much emotional turmoil and trauma, but that wondering was the worst. I cry for those people whose hopes are growing dimmer as day after day goes by and there is no word of the ones they love.

I really cannot imagine what that was like for you. I followed your threads and continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

8. one of the very saddest aspects of this is all the families who will . . . |
|
never know what happened to their loved ones . . . whether they're alive or dead, what happened to their remains, etc. . . for many, not knowing may drive them over the edge and prevent healing from ever taking place . . .
