What happens to Bustamante if AS wins?
After all, Cruz won his office on his own merits; Gray and he were not a package ticket. I haven't seen this addressed in the LATimes archive of recall questions. Forgive if this has been asked and answered before.

3. good point
I don't recall seeing this addressed anywhere else, either. I would imagine he would keep his post as Lt. Gov. -- after all, he wasn't being recalled in any form, so what would be the grounds for removing him from office?

9. The Lt Gov has a few constitutional duties
Article V, section 9: "The Lietenant Govenor shall have the same qualifications as the govenor. The Lieutenant Govenor is President of the Senate but has only a casting vote."
Section 10 "The Lieutenant Govenor shall become Govenor when a vacancy occurs in the office of Govenor."

He or she is also an ex officio regent of the University of California.

10. If recall is successful
why wouldn't the law allow for Cruz to succeed Davis?

Section 10 "The Lieutenant Govenor shall become Govenor when a vacancy occurs in the office of Govenor."

6. Cruz will stay the Lt.Governor but...
there has been some talk about Cruz and Davis helping in filing criminal charges and lawsuits against Arnold for the sexual assaults and harassment that have come to light recently.

7. Even if Davis survives it's hard to say whether Cruz will stay

I've heard the two hate each other.

BTW: I made a rhyme :7

8. Could Cruz w/o Davis continue the lawsuit vs Enron in that case?
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 02:42 AM by ReadTomPaine
That would be reason enough for him to stick around.
