Anyone else think Rove's going to walk on outing Plame?
I think BushCo has been tipped off by someone at DOJ that Fitzgerald can't make the Plame case stick against Rove. I doubt Bush would give Rove the job of heading up the rebuilding of NOLA if Fitzgerald was going to indict him in a few weeks.

4. Or
They put Rove on the job because Dems hate him, and it gives Dubya an air of confidence: "I'm puttin' my best man on the job."

And how much experience does Rove have at overseeing natural disaster reconstruction, rather than orchestrating political attacks?

9. What is going on with that case???
Are we just waiting on Fitzgerald?

Is he still investigating and working on the case?

I heard that Novak sung like a bird, is that true?

I don't like waiting around. Additional time, if more time for the BFEE to pay people off, threaten people and make things to the way they want.

Hurry up, Fitzy.

16. Rep. Conyers is going after Rove (and others I hope) said on his Blog:
Listen In as Congressional Republicans are Forced to Address Rove's Plame Leak

Cross-posted at DailyKos

Starting tomorrow and stretching through next week, 4 House Committees are expected to vote on resolutions addressing the Valerie Plame leak. Specifically, these resolutions demand information from the Bush Administration on the outing of Valerie Plame in apparent retaliation for Ambassador Wilson's truth telling concerning weapons of mass destruction. The Bush Administration refuses to police itself in the midst of criminal and ethical misconduct and it is time for Congress to exercise its duty to oversee the Executive Branch. Many of these markups will be broadcast live on the Internet. The following are links to the Committee webcasts:

September 14, 10:00 AM, House Judiciary Committee
http://judiciary.house.gov/

September 14, 10:30 AM, House International Relations Committee
http://wwwc.house.gov/international_relations/

September 20, Time TBA, House Armed Services Committee
http://www.house.gov/hasc/schedules/

September 15, 1:00 PM, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
Closed to the Public

This resolution is necessary because the Bush administration refuses to police itself in the midst of criminal and ethical misconduct. In July 2003, over two years ago, a Bush administration official committed one of the most serious breaches of national security in recent history by disclosing to the press the identity of an undercover CIA operative. Even worse, it likely was done for political reasons, to retaliate against the operative's husband for successfully challenging the President's claim that Iraq had sought nuclear materials in Africa.

The purpose of this resolution is to get to the bottom of what happened and why the Justice Department slow-walked the investigation at the beginning. We know that, despite urgent pleas from the CIA for a criminal investigation into the leaker, the Justice Department and White House dragged their feet. Then-Attorney General Ashcroft insisted on private briefings on the status despite his long-standing ties to Karl Rove, a person involved in the investigation. It is time for Congress to exercise its duty to oversee the Executive Branch.

We have no illusions that the Republicans in Congress are suddenly going to reverse course and start demanding accountability on this, or any other matter, that involves Bush Administration misconduct that is damaging to the nation. However, starting tommorrow, they will have to go on record and explain their votes defending criminal activity on the part of high ranking officials. That is the beginning of congressional accountability.

20. No one knows yet
Personally, I think it's an uphill battle. There's no really good reason why this investigation has taken so long. It's very odd, even by Washington standards.

Consider, though, that Ken Lay doesn't go on trial until 2006.

I grieve for my beloved country, and what it's become.

31. Blame the lazy
citizenry who are fed up and do nothing. Blogging is an educational tool, yet it is silent, causes no traffic jams, blockades no buildings, or interferes in any way with the day to day operation of the corporate empires who truly govern the USA. The media only respont to sensationalism to gain audience and sell products for the corporations who own them.

30. nope......
If he's going to walk it won't be because of Fitzgerald.

The Chimp gave the job of Director of Homeland Security to Chertoff, head of FEMA to Brown, what makes you think giving Rove this position is any less stupid than these two fiascoes?

He owes Rove big-time. It feels more like payment in advance just in case. It's either this or giving Rove the Medal of Freedom. He couldn't really do it after indictments now could he?

When indictments do come, Rove will have to resign but * will find another position if turd blossom stays out of jail. I wish Fitz would hurry up, though, I'm ready for some action.

34. You have to wonder about one thing with Plame-gate
How do the folks over at the CIA feel about this?

How will they feel if Rove does slitter out of any indictment?

They have to know a lot about the Bushie's dealings past and present. And pissed off informed folks in a city with a lot of press can be dangerous to your legacy.
