6. The rebuilding will be done with more borrowing. |

A socialist would have raised taxes on the rich to help out the poor. The poor in Bush's scenario will be encouraged to go the "entrepreneurial" route with loans that have to be repaid. Doesn't sound socialistic to me.

He's not expanding government programs. He's increasing government spending. But it's all on private contractors. More taxpayer money will be put into the hands of companies like Halliburton and Bechtel.
And those contractors no longer have to pay a prevailing wage, thanks to Bush's suspension last week of the Davis-Bacon Act. So the contractors will cut wages and take in even more profit.
There is no redistribution of wealth here, except for the transfer of taxpayer money to Halliburton stockholders.
I mean, come on. Norquist is all over this.
Norquist pushed for suspension of Davis-Bacon. He's pushing for the suspension of more laws. And more privatization. And more profit. And more poverty.

10. Naw...he's a Corporatist. Always has been. |
|
Carpetbaggers, Robber Barons, and War Profiteers are his constituency.
There's big money to be made in plundering the public treasury. I have real fears that this money will just be siphoned off and not used for the best interests of the folks in New Orleans.
There are REAL questions that have to be asked by the Congress. They have to do their jobs, and be a Congress, instead of a bunch of yes men for special interests, on BOTH so-called "sides" of the aisle.
