3. All of the suddent the word "racism" would be okay to use |
|
against the gov't. Of course since Bu$h is p-resident...they cannot utter the R-word.
I dunno what you call it when black bodies are floating in the NOLA water for 5 days while George white-bread Bu$h is playing guitar on "vacation" instead if leading the rescue effort.
Jeebus, I miss Clinton!!!

11. Is every white person is a racist? No. Did Bush take his sweet time |
|
because mostly poor and black folks were suffering? yes.
That's the point.
Bush would have moved heaven and earth to get his family, friends and fellow GOPers from out of danger. It was possible to rescue many more people if there was a will to do so.

4. If Katrina had come during Clinton's admin, |
|
...the levees would have had proper maintenance and repair; FEMA and emergency teams would have been deployed the moment it was possible; contingency housing would have been arranged en masse, with aid and social workers immediately available; and there would have been competent and prompt relief dispatched to all in need.
And the RW would be screaming about what a "socialist" Bill was and how he was abusing government authority.

5. If Katrina had come during the Clinton administration, |
|
Clinton would have had airlifts sent in and troop carriers and every imaginable sort of assistance to people and there wouldn't be a war in Iraq distracting the entire nation and using all its military resources and the Louisiana National Guard would not have been in Iraq and Clinton would have made sure generators were shipped in and people were given hope and, and, and, and the first thought would not be to make sure that students who have been in private schools don't have to go to public ones and, and, and the whole government would have been focused on not just talking about the outpouring of love from the American people to the homeless and displaced of New Orleans but showing that love through a responsible, truly compassionate government response. That's what would have happened under Clinton. And the right wing would have looked like the pharisees criticizing Jesus, and the whole nation would have seen through them.

17. And Clinton would have shucked off his suit, |
|
cancelled his engagements, gone to NOLA in a chambray shirt and jeans and would have been in the muck trying to help out. Chelsea and Hillary would have gone to comforting the folks also.
We would not have seen any of this cake-eatin', air guitar playing bullshit.

7. They would be complaining about government spending ... |
|
... after James Lee Witt and Clinton mobilized massive amounts of resources and had them ready the second the storm hit.
They would bristle even more because the levees would NOT have broken because Clinton would not have cut the funding for the necessary levee upgrades.
Whats the old saying? an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. $210 Million in infrastructure improvements = 200 BILLION in reconstruction costs. Of course, that all depends on if you're a family practitioner or a surgeon (or an undertaker).
I am however anxious to know how that $2 billion dollar bridge in alaska to an island with 50 residents is coming along. And I'm curious as to whether this will be one of the "non-critical" projects that will suffer under the forthcoming budget route to pay for "Katrina relief" (which will simply be stolen by Bush chronies).

8. The same kinds of things that everyone is saying about Bush |
|
The difference is that the media would focus all of their opinions and attitudes and talk show segments around his failure more than any other aspect of the situation. They certainly wouldn't be expressing their palpable desire to hear the merest wisp of admitting a mistake, in the broadest context possilbe, so that they could just completely put the issue to rest and return to revering their Republican masters.
With a Dem they'd never let up, just like after Clinton apologized formally, repeatedly and profusely for a private indescretion that was nobody's business, they never looked up to respect the man who 'admitted his mistakes'. They held him in permanent contempt for nothing.
In short, the loss of a major city to forseeable natural disaster under a Dem would have brought an unending media frenzy replete with calls for multiple investigations and hearings led by the opposing party that would be assured to last for years of media and Republican rancor. With Republicans, thousands of deaths due to lies like Iraq and negligence like 9/11 and FEMA are washed away with 'there were many mistakes made'. Try that if you're a Dem.

13. Clinton would have done his fucking job. |
|
FEMA would not have been eviscerated; competent people would be managing it; preparations would have been made; and there would have been money to pay for the repairs.
End of story.

You know they'd still be investigating him even after they'd literally crucified him and Hillary too. Of Course he'd have done his job, but that never stopped them investigating every other move he made.
