Support for recall now below 44%
A poll of 1,000 registered voters, conducted by Elway-McGuire Research for Knight Ridder from Wednesday through Saturday, found the percentage of people saying they would definitely vote to oust Davis dropped from 52 percent Wednesday to 44 percent Saturday. The poll had an overall margin of error of 3 percentage points, but the margin of error for individual days was not given.

The poll also showed Schwarzenegger's lead over Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante to replace Davis narrowing slightly from an earlier survey.

1. Yeah, but...
"Although those definitely planning to vote to oust Davis had slipped to 44 percent, among overall voters surveyed the margin supporting the recall was still 54 percent."

3. I still think
that much of Arnie's "support" is hype to make the recall seem like fait accompli.

4. Remember, when most of the Absentee Ballots were cast....
the support for the recall was wavering between 50%-58% percent!
At this time Cruz Bustamante had a DOUBLE digit lead over DAS GROPER!

There is a good chance that the Absentee Ballots will not favor Arnie S!!!

9. Don't forget, though, Arnold didn't start leading over Bustamante until...
...after his only debate.

So, it's not clear which way those early votes will break -- more Yes votes but more Cruz votes? Hmm.

Also, I heard that Davis is doing poorly among young, first time voters. I doubt first-time voters are voting absentee, and I wonder if they'll show up at all.

and she's doing "no" on the recall, "yes" on Cruz, and "no" on both of the stupid propositions.

15. Remember the day after the 2000 Presidential Election
Gore had a lead of over 100,000 vote in the popular vote.

There were about 1,000,000 uncounted absentee ballots in California.

Jerry Falwell get on TV and says he thinks Bush will overtake Gore when all absentee ballots are counted.

After counting those absentee ballots Gores lead increases in the popular vote.

6. Great News! And it will only get better since the poll was taken Wed-Sat..
I am sure Saturdays polling was close to 40% or lower.

We just may win this thing..

but those last several days were big ones. Hard to tell what saturday sentiment was compared to the wednesday sentiment.

7. One point about this poll and the media coverage
Since the beginning of the recall mess, the media has been CURIOUSLY silent on REPUBLICANS who are against the recall. I have spoken to many Republicans who HATE Davis but are ideologically opposed to the recall. Knight Ridder also does polls for the OC Register so I STRONGLY suspect they called severla Republican households.

I am also glad Davis and Bustamante are wrapping up their trips in areas where many polls will be closed..this will help get out the message as to where to vote.

12. I know a Calif. repug against the recall
He told me back in August that he was voting against it and that he was encouraging others to do the same. In his own words, "The recall is against what any American should stand for, and it should not be allowed."

He's a direct descendant of the founder of the Calif. Republican party, but after spending some time with him, I discovered he is RINO. Still, it was interesting - he was a nice guy and hates *.

but that may be info that's found at the Sec. of State's
office or maybe the news media will actually do the work
to find it.

10. They should read this
Maybe we can get that number even lower if more people hear about this:

While the California press is reluctant to challenge the Austrian dumbbell lifter on anything more significant than his palm print on some females' behinds, one reader of our report below confronted Schwarzenegger. Friday, at a staged event in front of the Von's supermarket in Bakersfield, Referring to the disclosure in my column (which would have been well known to the candidate by that time), she shouted, "He's in bed with Kenny Lay, you idiots! It's your money!" There was dead silence for a beat, then came the voice through the loudspeakers, "I suhtunly wasn't in bet wit YOU!"

(While Arnold's proud new boorishness was a hit with the yahoos, the Terminator was stopped dead by his interlocutor's comeback which is simply too brilliant, dead-on accurate, and salacious to repeat on a family website.)

14. This last-minute swing has changed my vote...
... I had been pretty much resigned to seeing Arnold win, and I was going to vote for Georgy so at least I could record a vote for a candidate I really like... but now seeing as how Cruz is still in the race, I'll go ahead and hold my nose and give him my vote.

21. A repuke friend of mine
surprised me when he announced he was voting "no" and sticking with Davis - "warts and all" as he put it.

I posted back in August that no one should ever underestimate Gray Davis in California. Traditionally, Californians vote for boring career politicians to be governor. While Ahnold has a following among the celebrity obsessed who are willing to overlook his sleazeball behavior, I think when push comes to shove voters will see this for what it is, and Gray will prevail.

29. Davis was excellent last night on Larry King and so was his wife!
If the media had stuck to straight reporting and covering the facts, this Arnold crap would have been shut down early.

Davis came across as clear, effective, serious, with some humor and faith...His wife is warm and spirited..

Compared to the ghoulish thuggery of Schwartzie....

Anybody thinking can instantly see the difference in the quality of the two of them..
