If, and I say IF, Roberts is gay |
|
Is there anyway he could be convinced to come out after he is sworn in?
It would destroy BLP's* base.
And I'd love to watch the Right Wing Homophobic heads explode. Hell, I'd even go PPV for that!

I know a couple in the same position. But I'm saying his wife might not like it too much if he comes out... in public.... as Chief Justice of the U.S.
Kind of blows the whole privacy thing for a couple, I'd guess.

21. Well, I have a lot of gay men friends |
|
but I'd freak if my husband turned out to be gay, if for no other reason than I'd feel damned stupid not to have figured it out!
I wouldn't have a problem being married to a gay man in a platonic way if I were single... there is more to marriage than sex.
I am always fascinated with how the wives of transgendered men handle the transformation, as it appears some stay in the relationship
Sometimes gender confuses me.

is to look down, and if he is sucking your c**k then it's pretty certain he's gay. However, if you're looking up, then he may well be completely str8. :D

until after * makes his nomination for Sandra Day O'Connor's seat. If he comes out before the the RW Repigs in this country will NEVER allow another "unknown, perhaps moderate" nominee to take a seat. But, IF he is, I hope he comes out of the closet.
On edit: The thought of seeing RW heads explode is a good one.

At least he didn't say Ben-Hur or Spartacus. And if the committtee had gotten into favorite directors, and the first name that popped out of his mouth was John Waters…
The horror! The horror! But we'd have our answer.

IF he is, hopefully that will make him a bit more of an empathetic judge. And I don't think it'd do one whit to Bush's popularity -- after all, they didn't know when they appointed him, did they?

15. You realize, of course |
|
that the position of Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court is THE head of one of the three co-equal branches of Federal Government, on a par with President and Speaker of the House?
I agree that if he is, that it will make him a bit more of an empathetic judge.
As to "they didn't know"....well what can I say....didn't they vett him? And if they didn't know, isn't that a bit like not knowing Mike Brown had more experience with horses than disasters?
Goes back to incompetence, not of Roberts, but to Bush and his cronies. And that the Base WILL not like to see exposed.

Or as empathetic as all the undercover gay Republican officeholders who make careers out of sponsoring legislation to deny rights to gays and lesbians?
Why is it everytime an undercover gay Republican is outed it turns out to be someone actively practicing homophobia?

14. Why does it seem like I'm seeing the start of... |
|
a Rove style "whisper campaign" here at D.U.? I'm ALL for playing hardball politics and taking the fight to repukes but why are we resorting to it here? Why aren't those who "represent" us standing up and opposing this nomination head on?
Just wondering.
P.S. and if this is a deliberate whisper campaign why here? D.U. is not the best place start it. Most of us would welcome a gay S.C. justice (unless he were of the Hoover variety). I think someone may be giving the freepers a little too much credit when it comes to spreading dis-info... (half of them can't even SPELL homophobic...)

Since I have several friends that are gay, that would be fine with me for him to be on the Court.
If so, I hope he will have more compassion fro others.

31. Could be Rove inspired. But a closet case would frighten me. |
|
Experience has taught me that gay bashers are always trying to kill-the-queer-within. The craziest closeted fags I've ever known were always Catholic. In my earlier slutty life, I'd always hide the knives if I learned the nights trick was catholic.
So a closeted, (but disturbed), judge could do a lot of harm. He would probably be OK though, unless he was trying to prove his hetero-ness with his decisions.

Mehlman is gay. And who's that Repig poobah who married his partner in the Northeast? This "Roy Cohn Gay" subset must be distinguished as an abberation in the gay community. These guys are fucking looney. They conflate power and being "above" the rules while relentless pursuing anyone engaging in their same behaviours. This subset was also manifest in the Third Reich. We need a DSM on it.

39. Didn't Michael Huffington come out during or after an election? |
|
Does anyone (except Arianna) remember? Can I ask how his coming out AFTER as opposed to BEFORE would cause the Homophobic heads of which you speak to explode -- more? better? Are you thinking THEY would deep-six him isf they found out he was gay BEFORE the vote?
You think they would derail part of their own agenda to control the SCOTUS for the next 50 years over his sexual preference? Hmmmm...
I have to think about that. Personally, I think they want to firmly control every arm of the government so badly, they would spin or hide it if they found out.

I prefer to think that they don't know.
On another post someone ask for bets on confirmation votes. Most gave 60-70 or more for. I said 51-49 because of the wild fire this is out on the net now.
Would they sink him? Good question, while they do want control, the conflict would be do they want it so bad?
Hard to tell, I guess we have to see how it plays out.
But if he does "come out" after the vote, all I'm saying is that we will have a spectacle of GOP'ers once again eating their young
And that is always fun to watch.
