3. He's a Christian and a former Naval Officer
Who, after having an amazing NBA career, followed his beliefs and has become a minister. He's also spent millions of his own dollars to found a non-denominational private school for disadvantaged youth in San Antonio.

He may be a right winger, but he's a good person. He's most definitely not a hypocrite.

13. Someone IS reading my posts after all!
'Twas I, whilst Robinson's Spurs (beloved of Laz) were ruining the Finals for the Nets, who called Robinson the F-word (fundie, that is).

Of course, no two DUers have the same definition of "fundie", so Google: "david robinson" spurs christian, and judge for yourself. (There are over 3,000 hits, though some involve Christian Laettner!)

4. He doesn't merit being called "Admiral".. He isn't fit to shine my shoes.
I actually served in the Navy. This asshole went to school and made a living bouncing a ball playing games while I was out on the open sea staring into radar screens looking for the "evil communists."

Anything this faker has to say isn't worth my time to hear.

6. Excuse me?
He served 2 years when he could have gotten out of service altogether, and has been a great representative for the Navy. He's an Academy graduate. It's not his fault he grew to over seven feet tall. Hard to fit that on a sub.

7. The "Admiral?"
Two years on a 6 year commitment. Pretty sweet deal there.
Kinda like Dubya did. Fact is, I was in the Navy. They had ships other than subs and some of the buildings actually had 8' ceilings. Roger Staubach and Joe Bellino did their bit in return for one of the finest and most expensive educations available. The "Admiral?" got a free shot.

Do a full 6 years? Robinson did 2 active and 4 reserve.

11. Roger
Did his whole commitment albeit as a jock. You don't get an academy ring in return for two years active unless you're "special". I've not heard of others this special.

12. I just better not hear any "to be anti-war is to be anti-troops" crap
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 07:58 PM by rocknation
If Robinson wants to support the troops, he should use this national platform to complain about cancelled leaves, unexplained illnesses, reduced combat pay and health benefits, and civilian contractors not delivering supplies. And of course, he has the option of enlisting!
