CNN is covering Cindy and the march Saturday!
Even showed video of another march. No dissing, just a straight report. "Organizers are expecting 100,000 people." So, that means really we'll see about 500,000! WOOHOO!

1. Unfortunately, probably not so much because Rita is hitting Fri pm/Sat am
and will dominate news coverage. Rightly so if the storm is as devastating as it appears it will be.

Still, I hope we see some of the March as well as some good news stories about it in the weeks to come.

3. I'm suspecting that C-Span will cover the march live
Anytime a major protest comes to DC it usually ends up on C-Span along with the counter protest (yes, the repukes).

Although it's not on their TV schedule, it's also left blank

5. Rita vs Cindy??? heres what I'm gonna do...
First Im gonna hope Rita downgrades herself to a cat 2-3, that will take a lot of the death and damage coverage away from the cities as well as the news reports.

Second, even if Rita doesn't make it down substantially Im hoping that things will go well enough that there just isn't enough filler for the newsies out there and the main alternative newswire will be DC.

Cindy giving her letter through the WH gates yesterday was totally inspiring.

6. True, Diebold is likely to be counting
the numbers of people at both marches . . .

7. I just got an email canceling our local peace march:
"The peace march and rally has been postponed so marchers can donate their time and efforts to victims of hurricane Rita."
This came from Key West where Rita passed through in the last two days. I think numerous other cities that had planned coordinated marches will also be canceling.
I would vote for rescheduling, but I know many participants already have plane and hotel reservations.

8. Speakers should use the publicity to point out...
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 08:01 AM by Atman
...that Bush's misquided and self-serving Iraq policy has left us in a weakened position to deal with the REAL threats facing America, the REAL unforeseen dangers, while he is bankrupting us to fight the boogeymen under his bed.

The DC rally cannot be postponed. It is already getting airtime. It will be up to the organizers and the speakers to create a positive message of hope out of the concurrent disasters swirling around us.

I hope they're up to the task. It is monumental.
