How will Bush/Cheney exploit Hurricane Rita and the situation in Texas? |
Seems to me, after New Orleans thats a question that warrants some thought.

1. Well it will be another no-bid for Halliburton |
Texas is going to take a beating--from bottom to top. I'm guessing that Halliburton contractors will enjoy staying close to home and still raiding the treasury.:sarcasm:

5. Profits will soar for the looters (Halliburton et al) |
With the repeal of the prevailing wage, bush*inc will make a killing.

2. I believe that Gov Perry (R) will give federal authority to bush*inc |
Contracts, contracts, contracts.
In addition, I believe a lot of lower income people will have their property taken from them.

6. An A+++ response w/Rita allows them to blame LA local |
officials for failures in Rita. They're going to say, "Look...we did everything right with Rita just like we did with Katrina. Just compare the differences of Governor Barber and Governor Perry to Louisiana and you'll have the answer to what was done wrong."
Bastards.

7. This or they'll use the stellar reponse to Rita as evidence that changes.. |
Have been made since Katrina. They'll say that we shouldn't worry about it anymore.

9. Only if the 'bi-partisan' panel of Congress can't hide what |
happened. You may be correct, though! It's likely both options are on the table as plans A and B. Karl will make the final decision after Rita makes landfall and blows off into history.

8. They'll just over react. |
By doing too much and overwhelming the area with aid and support they'll claim that NO was only because "no one could have anticipated" what happened in Katrina. You can bet that Gov Goodhair (a tip-o-the-hat to Molly I) signed the paperwork two days ago, in triplicate. Hell, GH Perry has already asked the Feds to bring gas to the evacuees on the interstate. They hope no one notices that if it's Fla or Tex, they can't do enough, anyone else is screwed. Be sure to keep an eye on the Corpo-Petro profits in the coming months and hope you don't have asthma after they waive the air standards for them.
