Do commercial Hummer sales interfere with military Hummer production?
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 03:27 PM by LittleClarkie
Just wondering if greed could be one of the reasons the military doesn't always have what it needs. Anyone know?

1. Appears to be Rumsfeld's doing
Hummer sez they can supply all he asks for, he just doesn't ask:

2. Doubt it.
If only on the basis that every Humvee built for the military is one that's already bought--whereas every H2 or H3 built is one that still needs to be sold. And they're probably on different production lines.

But greed is one of the reasons; greedy Pentagon suppliers, greedy congressmen, greedy lobbyists, etc.

I could be wrong.

On edit: I was right about the chassis:

9. Yeah the H2 & H3 are nothing at all like the military Hummer
Other than the general shape of the body, there's nothing alike.

4. They are different vehicles.
Civilian Hummers sit up much higher than do a military hummer. They are equipped very differently. That means different assembly lines. They don't interfere with each other.

5. Hummer is just Chevy Tahoe with that stupid-looking exterior
or so I've heard. The H2 is no "direct relative" to the Humvee.

6. H2's are Tahoes and H3's are Chevy Colorados
The H1 which is the military version is a whole different animal.

8. Real Hummers are diesel powered.
Much heavier construction. H1s (like Ahnold) are customized military versions though.
