Okay, does Bush read newspapers or does he not read newspapers? |
|
In a Republican primary debate in 2000, Bush was asked what he reads, and he listed off several newspapers, like the Dallas Morning News, the WP, the NYT. He claimed to read them every day.
A couple years later he remarked as president* that he doesn't read newspapers.
Recently I heard it said that Bush read in the paper the Tuesday morning after Katrina and read that New Orleans had "dodged a bullet."
So... you know... I wonder what the Hell the truth is.

1. The real masters work up a briefing book for him and he reads |
|
'pertinent' articles from that. I would think.

Bush gets a daily briefing that's about three pages long, and someone has to read it to him. They claim that's because Bush learns best by asking questions as he listens. Clinton, on the other hand, got a much longer daily briefing, read it, and sent it back to the appropriate people with questions and comments scribbled in the margins.
Michael Moore has argued that Bush is functionally illiterate, and I think he's right. He can read words aloud, but he can't understand what he's reading.

7. Sounds like maybe Bush is better at learning by listening. All people |
|
have varying styles. But - yes - you would think a President would be able to read and take it in. And more than 3 pages too.

9. Yeah. Seems most of his ideas can be quoted in his 1978 run for congress. |
|
Maybe that is when he read stuff.

10. Richard Clarke said Clinton was so good at reading Clarke's reports... |
|
That only a short time later, Clinton regurgitated the info back to Clarke and made it seem like Clinton was the one who wrote it in the first place.

2. That "dodged the bullet" thing was googled |
|
by a du'er and it was only found in a couple of obscure papers. I believe * reads what he's told in memos.
