It shouldn't take a draft
...to get young people off their asses and into the streets protesting about their peers being killed for the sake of Bush's greed.

...to get rock and rollers using their art to rail against this murderer. It's time someone wrote "Eve of Destruction, Part 2". Where are the fucking songs?

...to get rich people speaking out. Wait a minute, their taxes might go up. Better not say too much and just let this play out. They don't have to worry about their own kids going off to war....yet.

...to get Hollywood to take a commanding lead role in ending this shit. Oh, wait. Secretly, they love their tax cuts, too, that they've been silenced with.

It shouldn't take a draft for any of this to happen. College campuses should be straight out busy and engrossed in organizing marches and peaceful resistance, but the overall apathy is deafening. People should be in the streets IN MASSES, carrying protest signs and chanting anti-Bush, anti-war slogans, but rarely does it happen, and it's only because of a very special war mom that an occasional major event is in the works.

Nope, it shouldn't take a draft, and it shouldn't take a hurricane either. All it should take is the corruption & ineptitude we're seeing and hearing take place with our own eyes and ears on a daily basis. It shouldn't take a draft, but I guess that's what it'll take. It's pretty fucking sad, but that's what it boils down to.....as long as there are mostly poor and unemployed people to put on a uniform and take the hit for their apathetic peers. What a goddamn shame.
