I listen to AAR everyday and have NEVER heard them asking for donations |
|
The amount I listen varies from day to day, but my weekly average is about 12 hours. If this was for real, you'd think I would have heard at least one commercial.

2. I think that's excellent business practice. |

Allow potential new listeners to check out the station without being made to feel pressured into donating. NPR is bad enough in that regard. Also, the lurking right-wingers can't use that against them. Those of us who are true fans of the network can go to the website and find the information about donations ourselves.

I am quite ill and I listen all day everyday and they have done little this week but when katrina hit they regularly directed their listeners to the website to learn how to donate.

I read on some other thread that AAR is in big trouble because it has to solicit donations, rather than rely on commercials. I haven't heard any requests for donations to AAR.

6. I Don't Think It's as Bad as You Think |
|
There was a post yesterday in which they pasted in an e-mail they had received from AAR (can't remember who posted it), & it seemed to me like they are just trying to get people to help them advertise AAR to the general public. I have been asked to do this to help promote TV series & films. It doesn't necessarily mean that AAR is in trouble, because it's actually a pretty common practice.

8. Agreed. I hear a TON of commercials, but I've not heard one on air |

solicitation for funds.
I have my own opinion about the multiple 'AAR is in big trouble' threads that come up regularly here. I think many have the same goal as the ones rehashing old news about AAR related Boys Club funding scandal etc., even though there are probably some sincere DUers who are just wondering what's up.

I just wanna put the record straight, according to this loyal listener's observations. I just hate false spin, wherever it may reference from.
