Why Colorado?
"...President Bush canceled plans to visit with emergency workers and officials in Texas, citing the storm's shifting path and a desire not to impede preparations, but he still intended to monitor the storm's progress from a military facility in Colorado instead of Washington...."

4. I actually went down there to check out all there claims....
and as I work in production, I have several friends that move the art in DIA for extra cash (a LOT of extra cash).

The murals that they all screamed about are gone. The Masons thing is there. It is however a time capsule, that does ANYTHING BUT make the hair on your neck standup when viewing it.

They had me all pumped about going down there and investigating for them. Unfortunately it was ANOTHER wasted day at the airport...because the airport lounge had 2 for 1's. (Ba dum dum dum).

Thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the shrimp cocktail. Tip your wait staff.

It's all pretty deranged. Just google DIA conspiracy theories. You'll see what I mean.

8. Because we're not just for Winter anymore.
Fall is the most beautiful time in Colorado.

Maybe he's here to watch the Aspen's turn. Maybe Sniagrab...wait that was two weekends ago. Maybe he's going to get his ski pass early this season. Nows the deal time. Maybe he has just dreamed of sitting on a throne at NORAD and destroying the world and he's playing dress up this weekend.

OR

It's an excuse to not have to look at the MILLIONS that are going to descend on Washington this weekend and demand he pack up and go. Yea. I'm betting on that one.

20. Dude....if you're "misplaced"....it still happens every year.
And it's good if you're in the first 1000 in line. The booty that the 1001+ crowd are relegated to is the cheap crap.

But I was smart enough to get away from the "skiing" thing. What used to be a way for me to get closer to a higher power, slowly became an exercise in the avoiding of the commercial circus that has become the skiing industry. When lift tickets closed in on 50$ I threw in the towel. I can't take a day off, spend half a tank of gas, spend another 50$ on the crap I forgot...like a bottle of water.

I think prices now are like 75$ for a ticket? Ridiculous. Skiing is definitely a rich man's sport. Too bad. Nothing more soul replenishing than a day of boarding.

21. Not necessarily
You can still get 4 days at copper mountain for 80 dollars if you buy ahead of time. Of course, that's only if you want to go four days during the year. If you go other places like Ski Cooper prices are also low, although that's pretty far from Denver.

32. Right there with you man...
I grew up in Ft. Fun USA, and spent most weekends in Steamboat. Skiing was huge for me until I actually had to start fending for myself. Who can afford that shit?

Plus I got really tired of having to be around all of the Jimmy Buffet Parrotheads and rich Texans with brand new gear and fur coats. And all of that snow making can't be doing wonders for the groundwater in the mountains. Oh, and I'd like the $12 steamed ski lodge hamburger please - and how about one of those $5 Coors Lights to wash it down.

But the Sniagrab sure brings back memories. Is Jake Jabbs still on the air doing his Wild Kingdom furniture sales routine too?

28. And KKKarl doesn't want him associated more closely w/ this TX debacle
This debacle being the negligent evacuation of the TX Gulf Coast. Showing him in a split-screen schmoozing with Gov. HairProducts while also showing the frightened, desperate people stranded on Texas highways from Houston to Dallas is something KKKarl wanted to avoid at all cost. He'll let Gov. MoFo take the dive alone for that one. This way, he can also help promote little Scotty McNeverMissedAMeal's mommy for the governor's job while still shielding Junior from any responsibility.

17. That's because he's running away from Cindy Sheehan.
She's in Washington, D.C. this weekend for the peace march. If this wasn't going on, wanna bet he wouldn't be monitoring the storm? So Anita, Lolita, er Rita was a convient excuse, IMHO.

I think the Coward-in-chief has gotta nerve hanging around a military facility, Northcom, because he can't face a dead soldier's mother.

22. Ok...my best guess is Cheyenne Mountain....
past home of Norad, and I guess current home of "northcom"...This is the deep bunkered, cold war command center that it was still a violation of national security rules to mention by name in '72...it has since been mention in the movie "War Games" (would you like to play a game of global thermonuclear war?)...I was in the Springs and the Mountain was to the northwest If I recall corectly....somewhere atop it were both the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the Broadmoor Ski Areas...

25. Personally, I think he was going to TX
for his usual crappy photo op and heard some of the negative talk about what he was planning, how it would interfere with evacuation efforts, etc. and changed him mind and went on to Colorado.

That's the only reason I think he changed his plans. Plus I think he wants to be close so he can sweep in after the hurricane passes and THEN do his crappy photo ops with the "Poor people of TX"

What a nice guy! :sarcasm: NOT!!!!
