New York Health Officials Issue "Katrina Pet" Rabies Warning
New York State health officials are urging county health departments to take steps to provide rabies vaccinations for pets being relocated in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Agency officials also say it's likely there won't be rabies vaccine records for animals being brought to New York from the disaster zone.

The State Health Department is recommending that county health agencies set up free vaccination clinics if animals displaced by the hurricane are being relocated in their areas. Officials say the rabies vaccines should be made available as quickly as possible. <snip>
