11. Washington Post news I just posted in LBN
All public services along the evacuation route -- for gasoline, food, water, bathrooms -- were closed.

Ruben, 50, a juvenile-detention officer in Galveston County, said he saw three ambulances carry away elderly people who had collapsed in the heat of their unmoving cars. His grandchildren, 4 and 7, had put on baby diapers to avoid soiling the car.

"It was like the end of the world," Ruben said. "You know what it makes you want to do? It makes you want to go home and die. The government done us wrong."

Seriously, last I heard people were leaving their cars to knock on the doors of total strangers to find shelter. That was about 3 hours ago though.

7. 20/20 on ABC said Houston city officials said ALL those who were
stranded have been helped...either given gas, towed, or taken to shelters. I'm taking this with a grain of salt. Tomorrow will tell us a lot more.

8. That's not what I heard on News Night
tonight. One of the reporters (sorry, don't remember who it was) was talking about the problems with the highways, stranded cars, etc. It wasn't a long segment, but at least they were talking about it.
