1. With Rita, it was roughly the size of |
|
the coastal region of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and east Texas, plus their hinterland.

If in Britain they say something was roughly the size of the state of Idaho, or Michigan, or whatever. It always cracks me up when the media says the hurricane damage was twice the size of England. Lack most Americans have any idea how big England is. They are just trying to make it sound big by comparing it to a country. Why not Luxembourg? "The damage was roughly 120 times the size of the country of Luxembourg." Sounds impressive, eh?
