Fuck DC. MARCH ON NEW YORK! |
|
Let's pick a date, then all converge on New York City. Surround NBC at 30 Rock, CBS up on West 57th, the AOL Building (where CNN is), FOX's local affiliate and ABC's studios.
Then demand that since they're no longer acting in the public interest, and just shills for the Republican Party, that they return to the people of the country the airwaves which WE own and have ALLOWED them to use for seventy years.

12. Maybe October 22nd? Or would November 5 be better? |
|
I'm thinking November 5th, because Election Day is three days later, and it's a good chance to rally the faithful to our cause before going and voting in the (few) elections that week.
For those who can't make it to New York, organize and maintain individual, regional marches against network affiliates.
Or would a weekday be better? More coverage? Wouldn't it be hard for the "mainstream" media to ignore the Nationwide March Against The Media on a Friday Afternoon? :)

Marches need to be held in state caitals, places like NYC at media headquarters, at cities local media outlets, etc. If one can't make it to DC or NYC they need to set something up locally.

10. Do You Think They'll Notice? |
|
We need to be a whole lot more aggressive with the media. That means everything from Letters to the Editor to advertising to making public spectacles outside their hq's. Kenneth Tomlinson at CPB needs to go immediately.

Permit or not. We all just gather in New York, then protest at each of the media outlets.

21. Call it a PRO AMERICAN march; political suicide NOT to grant permit |
|
Be ready with press releases to everywhere in the world if Bloomy says NO.
"Bloomburg refuses permit for Pro America march."
Wouldn't look good for a guy trying to run an election campaign.

After all, the so called "mainstream" media bears the lion's share of the blame for not only the war, but for its constant propagandizing and covering for failed Republican policies that have hurt this nation irreparably.
THAT is where the protests (and the frustrations) should be focused.

Most sane people would want no part of an objectively pro-dictatorship and anti-American loony squad like ANSWER.
Marching with ANSWER is worse than marching with Pitchfork Pat Buchanan.

24. Most people went to march on Washington to protest the war in Iraq. |
|
ANSWER had lined up other groups with their own agendas, diluting the message of why the majority of why people went to Washington in the first place. It was horrendous. It wound up that CSpan televised the pre-march rally and by the end there was hardly anyone listening to the speakers, giving the impression that there were maybe only 20 people in Washington to protest.
We are at the point where the tide has turned against the war, and ANSWER almost like a tool for Karl Rove managed I am sure to turn off many to the anti-war movement.
