Join the climateprediction.net experiment!
What is climateprediction.net?

Climateprediction.net is the largest experiment to try and produce a forecast of the climate in the 21st century. To do this, we need people around the world to give us time on their computers - time when they have their computers switched on, but are not using them to their full capacity.

NOTE: This is a legitemate experiment, and it will NOT screw up your computer- it's merely a distributed-computing program that works in the background and does not affect the operation of your computer. I should know- I run it on two of my computers.

Other well-known experiments related to the core software include SETI@HOME, which has been running on computers around the world for several years.

1. Cool thanks!
I ran the SETI program for awhile. This one looks interesting too.

2. I'm running Einstein@home and LHC@home
Climateprediction's huge data files have a tendency to corrupt after many days of crunching.

Don't bother with seti, they ran out of new data long ago.

3. thanks for posting!
I've been collecting examples of distributed computing experiments, and this fits in with the global environmental change class I've been teaching.

5. Consider joining team democraticunderground.com
if you're running CPDN. We're currently holding 154th place in the top teams and could use some more CPU cycles.
